Nobody knows for certain, but there have been rumours as follows:-
(1) Lateish 2014.
(2) Around 350hp by tuning up (or crippling less?) the 981 engine.
(3)Perhaps 50kg lighter than the 981 (although I personally doubt this).
(4)Maybe cheaper than a 981 specced up with all the options that it will have as standard.
As far as I know, the 981 is about the same weight as the Cayman R. If there were further weight savings to be made, I think they would have been made in the 981. (The GTS will of course be lighter if it has bucket seats as standard, etc. But that isnt really what I think people were hoping might happen.)

As far as I know, the 981 is about the same weight as the Cayman R. If there were further weight savings to be made, I think they would have been made in the 981. I'm thinking it will be an options special with little in the way of weight saving.
The other GTS cars are made a bit more focused but they aren't exactly too far from the rest of the range.
I also think it too early for the real specials in the model life.
Do you think the R or in particular the Spyder were big enough sellers to make development of 981 versions worth it. I can't really picture a 981 spyder with the same mods to the bodywork and roof.

Just put my name down for a Boxster GTS - no-one else in so far so No.1 at my OPC. Announcement should be at the Beijing April show with first build slots in May so will be here for the summer.
Did the dealer give you any info on the spec ? are they going to be a limited edition run ?

Tell me about it !!! I just bought a 981 Cayman S and i love it, but i would trade it tomorrow if they came out with something like this. That rear wing is just amazing ! itsybitsy said:

+1but I would like mine with the 991 gt3 engine treatment around the 3.4 lump and 400bhp perhaps
