Corrosion near bonnet catch?
Discussion
I noticed the other day there are some rough patches which look like aluminium corrosion around the bonnet striker inside the front bonnet ( 2006 Cayman S ).
Has anyone else had this? Is it a reaction between the aluminium bonnet and the steel striker?
Just wondering if I should ask the dealer to have a look and if it would be covered by the corrosion warranty.

This is a fairly common problem. My 2007 CS also has some.
So long as your corrosion warranty has been kept validated with inspections as per the warranty's requirements, then you should speak with your OPC.
Mine hasn't so I haven't bothered. Its only surface corrosion that I keep an eye on and rub down and repaint with a paint stick every now and again.

My 987 has a tiny amount of this, if was picked up by a guy (who was responsible for the Porsche work at the OPC approved bodyshop local to me) I was talking to at one of the TIPEC meets before Christmas.
My car hasn't had the bodywork checks religiously stamped in the service book, but has got a full OPC service history. I'm guessing that the bodywork inspection was done at the scheduled time but the service book not stamped. Anyhow, I was advised that as long as the car has a full OPC service history it shouldn't matter whether the bodywork inspection stamps were evident or not.
I'm going to get mine done but will probably wait until the weather improves, had problems before with cars that have been painted at this time of year. I know it probably won't be an issue but I'm happy to wait.

Funny, I couldn't find anything about corrosion around the bonnet catch when I looked a few weeks ago as I'd noticed this on my 2009 Cayman. Plenty of examples of corrosion around the door striker plates of Boxsters and 996's.
Mine is going in next week to have this addressed under warranty. As they want it for 5 days, I suspect it will be rub down and respray and not a new bonnet.

I've just had my car in for a service and they are saying this bonnet corrosion is not covered as it is a 'bolt on panel'
It sounds like others have had the issue sorted, do I need to contact Porsche directly?
Update :
They are now saying I should take the car to their bodyshop and they will have a look and contact Porsche for me if it is covered.
