Boxster Speed Limit Warning
Discussion
Just bought a Boxster S - my first one - and absolutely loving it................apart from the annoying Speed Limit Warning that "Bongs" at 75mph. This one appears to be an additional one to the one in the menu settings, (which can be set wherever you want, or deactivated). Is it anything to do with the activation of the rear spoiler, which raises at the same speed, and is it possible to switch the blooming thing off? Or can this only be done at a Specialist or Main dealer? Please help this Boxster virgin!!
I'm sure you can if you have the OBC ? I can remember it from my old 986.
I found it documented here, assume it works whether you have PCM of not (although i used to do it via the PCM method)?
I also remember there was the ability to set 3 or 4 DIFFERENT speed warnings using this method.

Hi to all who commented and offered assistance. Turns out there are 2 ways to set the speed limit "bonger". First one is with the steering wheel stalk which has a number of menu items that can be accessed (and was the one I had tried to deactivate). The second one is through the "Trip" buton on the Dash. According to the specialist I took the car to, these 2 different entry/deletion options work independently of each other, so its possible to have settings via the stalk, and separate settings via the dash button. I had deactivated the ones via the stalk, but (cos I didnt know it existed!) hadnt deactivated the ones in the dash setting. Cant see the logic in having the 2 systems, but have at least solved the annoying problem. Big thanks to Tony at Porschtek in Leeds for that one!

It's for Motorway use. The first bong at 70 tells you that you are going to slow. The second set at 140 tells you that you are having fun. Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
