I always said I couldn't/wouldn't justify getting a CR until I was working locally instead of being away from home Mon-Fri every week, in fact this was the main reason I sold the C2S a year ago as it just wasn't getting used. Anyway, the good news (for me) is that I've just accepted a new role half an hour from home so the hunt is on!

If anyone's got a CR coming up for sale in the next few weeks/months please drop me a line - happy to buy now but equally happy to wait for the right car.

Must haves:
manual
carbon buckets
spyder alloys
air con
not white or black - prefer green or red

Prefer:
extended leather - actually this might be a must have as I've discounted a couple of cars that didn't have it
PSE

I did have PSE on the must have list but I'm wondering whether getting something like the Carnewal exhaust plus sport mode fitted might be just as good (nearly) but at a much lower cost. Thoughts?

Hi, there are a couple on PH that seem to fit, a green or a white.

I'm always looking for one, missing out on my ideal car in October by dithering too long on price!

I wouldn't worry too much about the PSE, you can get that retro fitted.

From personal experience the sound from the factory PSE is better than the Carnewal mod but that's just my opinion.

An indy should be able to fit the PSE with factory button etc for approx £1800 (if you want to keep your black exhaust tips, as the chrome signature PSE tips comes at quite a premium)

The green car with the silver alloys has been up for quite a while.

White is off the list but if it wasn't then the one at Knights up at 39.5k isn't too far off the mark (has PSE) tbh. The green one for sale privately is too much considering it doesn't have PSE, sports chrono, extended leather - which is probably why it's still not sold.

Although I've been watching the market for over a year, it's only in the last week or so I've been looking seriously so I'm happy to hold out for a while longer for the "perfect" car. What spec are you looking for?

I paid top money at 45k earlier in the year,

But it has the "spec" list that's for sure.
I also had to have extended leather, on top on the must have normal Cayman R options.

Some cars were 35k at the time, but some times you just have to pay if you want every thing.

Short shift and sports mode you can retro fit as can you with PSE. So don't discount a car if the price is right as it not much to add those bits, unlike wheels at 5k and the buckets at 6k which can be deal breakers unless the cars 30k.

SS is about £400
Sports mode is £700
Exhaust is not quite as simple as the R had a bespoke larger system, but gert sells the R exhaust.
If you buy a factory PSE kit you will get the 48mm one not the 55mm R one.

I was also after Red, you never see them for sale.

A few months back there was a white mega spec with PCCB but at 49k
Was tempted swapping mine for it and selling the Spyder as well.
But cars with full spec sell the same day. It seems.

Now I am just getting the Spyder Sprint ready for 2014 so have spent a bit on it and will enter sprints with it :-)
And I plan to do the ring and Spa in it also 2014.

the R will have SS tyres fitted soon and along with its geo and unplugged PSE I still love it.
I will prob change the master brake cylinder and pads though for spring.

If you can get a PCCB car go for it and pay more to get it. Having PCCB over normal is night and day in performance.
If I did not have the Spyder I would buy the 6 pots conversion for my R and fit the 350mm brembo disks.

Oem the brakes lack feel and bite and pedal travel is too much.

Personally I wouldn't go for the extended leather as a must have, as it really brings nothing with regards to comfort or power it's just nice to look at, and with a car that is made for lightness it adds extra weight with no purpose. I agree the brakes are not best feel as standard but I fitted the GT3 MC and comp pads with SRF fluid and now they feel as good as anything.

Essentials for comfort and re-sale/Life value IMO I think are:-

Buckets
Spyder Wheels
A/C
PSE
Sport Chrono
Manual 6 speed
Some music
Rear wiper

Anything else is bonus or can be retro fitted

What championship are you intending to enter?

I just bought the white PDK Cayman R from GC Motors which they had since June because it didn't have air con. It has everything else including PCCB, carbon seats, PSE, extended leather, lightweight wheels, parking sensors etc and only 4,500 miles. A one owner, Sep 2012 car. I am very happy with it. The PSE isn't as good as the 981 Boxster/Cayman but still worth having.

My current 130i doesn't have leather dash and looks fine but I think the vinyl covering BMW use looks far better than the Porsche one which looks a bit cheap. My other 4 Porsche have all had the leather dash so although I'm inclined to agree it adds "nothing", if I didn't have it I just wonder ho long it would be before I was scouring the classifieds again!

Nice to have the stitching on the doors as well not just the dash.
All 4 of my Porsche's have had full leather , I just think they look a bit cheap with out for a car which costs £60k new,

But's that's only imo :-)

That makes good sense as the class system is based on bhp I think, whereas the MSA sprints are categorised on engine size with no consideration for power output.

Not sure, I like the idea of the pcgb one, but a lot of travel and I have never done any of the tracks.
So might do the midland sprint championship, and just do 1 or 2 Porsche ones.

I think even in the PCGb one we would be up vs 991gt3. And all the GT3 RS boys.

Bit of a Bhp issue if that's the case, nothing to loose though coming last then lol.
Just fancy doing some thing more than a track day with a group of like minded people.

I haven't done any of the PCGB climbs or circuits either but have to start learning somewhere, I'm sure they won't all be suited to GT3's etc especially if wet or damp.

I'm looking forward to getting the 1st couple done and maybe get chance to talk to the other competitors and find out all sorts of stuff as I'm working a bit in the dark at the moment. Even down to stupid stuff like camping/hotels etc. Should be a big learning curve but looking forward to it.

If you do decide to do the Midland I should see you on a couple of the rounds as they double up with the ASWMC which is the one I do.

Not an easy task finding the right colour spec we desire we are all different and require different spec cars
With not many Cayman R s around makes finding one in our specific spec wants and colour and of course price hard
Have been looking for last 6 months and nothing yet.

My spec would be
Manual
Buckets
Air con
Spyder wheels
Chrono
Headlight upgrade would be nice
Upgrade sounds would be nice
Leather would be nice
Sports exhaust
Low mileage
Colour Viper green Speed yellow Red may concider white but white would have to have everything above and the right price if i can not find my first colours of choice before the spring.
Time to px my Mint 996 GT3 mk2 for the type of driving i will be doing next year.
I wish anyone the best of luck finding there desired spec I know how difficult it can be finding the right car in top condition.
Good hunting
