Boxster S 987 tuning
Discussion
go to a indy with a bag full of bits then and pay £35/hour to get them fitted.
the mods for these cars are very tried and tested worldwide, so easy to cherry pick the parts to suit your pocket.
987.1 tuning is slightly different to 987.2 tuning. either way you can end up with a circa 350BHp car with little out lay.

Most common upgrades are an IPD plenum with GT3 throttle body, some kind of aftermarket headers like the Fabspeeds, or a complete exhaust system like a Capristo (if you have very deep pockets). Then you'll need some kind of remap to take advantage of any mods - Softronic tends to be quite popular.
And no, I haven't done any of the above... yet :-)

Out of interest, what would you recommend to increase a 987.2 Cayman to 360-400 bhp without forced induction? And what would each mod offer in terms of bhp / £ -

Fit a 997.2 gts engine which is 405bhp :-)And what would each mod offer in terms of bhp / £ -
Not easy to get over 350bhp so just buy a engine in, plus not as bad as it sounds as you can sell the cayman engine to fund it.

More about drivability, the 987.1 car has quite a bad dead spot.
It' s worth tuning just to fix that :-).
Drivier training is always a stupid answer , put the same driver in the tuned car , tuned car will be faster.
I'm not stupid, and its "Driver" not "Drivier"It' s worth tuning just to fix that :-).

Most owners and drivers (the vast majority of us) fail to enable or realize the full capability of our performamnce cars due to a lack of knowledge or ability that may come with performance driving tutition. given access to an additional 70bhp as suggested previously does not always convert into usable performance and if it does it does not mean that the driver can handle it.
The 987.1 S does have a slight "flat" spot, common fault on most "world" cars which can be addressed by remap.

It's your comment that sounds stupid to me.Put the trained driver in the standard car and he'll be faster than the untrained driver in the tuned car (based on the moderate tuning we're talking about) - as he will in any other similarly comparable cars.
Admittedly if you throw say £10,000-£15,000 at improving a Boxster S the untrained driver *might* be quicker round a track. It'd be an interesting challenge for an untrained driver to have a go in the Boxster S I raced and see if they're as quick as I am in a standard one.....
This isn't for a track car, its about induction noise, exhaust tone and tweaking the performance for just a little more to catch out my friend in his Porsche 911 as it just edges the Boxster at present.
I have been advised by David to get the following which seems to be a good package and worth a try.
