OK, thanks. Does the A/C do a good job of clearing a frozen front screen?

No better or worse than most cars tbh.

You can't beat a kettle of luke warm water imo.

Lukewarm water? And what is the temperature in Alaska in January? Lukewarm would shatter that, ethylene glycol is the stuff to use, if you can't wait for a air blown defrost.

heated windscreen is a Ford invented thing, so they fit it to every thing even my dads basic Fiesta has one.

I cannot get on with them in the dark, gives head lights a star burst effect coming the other way.

I've also always used warm water - never even bought a tin of de-icer.

Had to use the heated screen this morning for the first time - it's great.
(Even at night ;-) )

Alaska really doesn't have anything to do with Warks. However, lukewarm water can freeze on top of the iced windscreen. Secondly, can weaken the windscreen due to temperature shock, of sudden increase in temperature.

So, ethylene glycol is favoured method. Austrian wine works quite well too!

In Alaska, up on the North Slope oilfields, in winter they more often than not just leave the engines running constantly. Even in summer they leave all the doors unlocked, so you can escape from the bears.

Well, well, well, not too far to fill the Porsche on 24 hour tick over. Also Polar Bears can't get in Porsches, unless the roof is down!

No heated screen option and if REMS does list one, you lose the integral antenna(ae) and will have to re-route and mount one on the surface... somewhere.

Treating the windscreen with a hydrophobic coating will help clear it. Something like:
