Mine was due to enter production on June 20th, I think, but still hasn't, so coming up to 2 weeks slippage on that one. The slightly more painful part of the wait is once it's awaiting shipping, which from my previous few Porsche orders in recent years, can be 2-4 weeks without movement. I've always added a month at least to expected arrival date even close to build completion. Sadly, factory annual shutdown will be soon, so August builds will be slowed by that event's duration...

When I was told the expected dates for my GT4 RS build, I only took heed of the spec. freeze date, May 24th. I joked with the sales person that for the previous 3 cars it has been almost exactly 11 months from paying the deposit to getting a car. I paid the deposit on May 3rd, so if the car arrives this side of April Fool's Day 2025 I'll consider myself lucky. I was told this one will be happening really quickly, but in all seriousness, I thought September delivery a high hope even when everything was on track.

It must be a really painful process first time around with a GT4 RS, so I feel for anyone suffering that. My first was a base model Cayman in 2016/17. I went really long without being told what was happening. Consequently I even quietly contacted the sales person's boss to make sure I wasn't having my leg pulled about a car genuinely being on order. Nowadays I'm used to it, and will enjoy the weeks or months of relative peace before they tell me the car has been released from Emden, or maybe even reached a UK port.

At that point, I'll broach the subject of a new car with my wife. I am NOT about to spend 11 months in the dog house, but without the car I am hoping for. I'd rather cut that to a matter of weeks or even days by managing my own expectations. It really helps to be able to say that I'm pretty sure I told her about it when I ordered it, or couldn't tell her due to extenuating circumstances. "So when was that?" "Well, almost a year ago, so I'd kind of lost hope anyway."

The last car I bought last year (C GTS 4.0), I somehow got away with asking for a lift over to the PPF fitter's place to pick up a car. "What car?" An uncomfortable mood for the journey, but less than an hour away from home, so tolerable. The OPC had had the good sense to load the boot up with a hamper of Italian food delicacies on that occasion, which genuinely took edge off my return from work that evening.

New GR just ppfd awaiting collection at Leeds OPC
I hear in recent days of people with recently new GT4's being offered GT4RS cancelled orders and new to spec cars so long as the Weissach pack and PCCB's are specified from this OPC ...

On a broader comment of the times I am told that a lot of RHD UK ordered cars have been re-allocated to Australia ... if so I wonder how easy it would been to have brought one back rather than paying overs ??

Either way, the end of new petrol cars is nigh (even if extended a little) ... will electric cars adequately replace them ?

After my long diatribe last night, got an email notification that the new car has gone into production at 5.25 this morning (early start at the factory, even allowing for time difference. biggrin )

Delivery date is forecast as 30th August, which I'll take with a big pinch of salt. I think it was the original predicted date, but the car is about 2 weeks behind schedule.

@Chris W, I think this is the third car I've helped justify to myself as the "last of the great petrol cars". Might get a few more in yet! wink

Leeds being one of the largest UK OPCs delivered 6 new 4RS this year.

They would not retail a used non WP car unless it was bought in at £20k to £25k below the equivalent WP car.

If that were correct and selling to an OPC, Weissach should be a no-brainer .... which I am not convinced it is having actively sought a non-Weissach 991.2 GT3RS ...

Might the carbon start delaminating like it did on the wings of the 996 GT3RS ?? Might it be expensive to repair ? Might it in the eyes of some be detrimental to the look of the car ? Might it make the GT4 more noisy ? What is irritating for those that really want to influence the unsprung mass, is that a car cannot be specced without Weissach but with the magnesium wheels. Why ?

I got a good deal on a set of Black Mags as part of my purchase and need two sets of wheels (one road and one for Hill climbs)…..and did this instead as would not run mag wheels every day! So avoided the glossy carbon tax….YMMV

If it’s anything like mine, it won’t be anything like 12 months - mine was mid Feb to early June (this year).

Mine entered production 1st July and shows delivery between 23rd July - 29th August.

Sales exec thinks it will be towards the later date. I’d be surprised if yours arrives in September but hope it does for you. The wait is painful
Yeah.. I have an Alps driving trip first week in October, but I think that’s pushing it.

And being done by one of the good guys!! Clarke is a legend. As is his dad. It’s been too long since I’ve seen him. Need to rectify that soon.

Looking forward to seeing it all finished and with a proper Scottish background… Yea, a pint of Tennants on the rear wing, lol.

Impressive.....matching Shark blue lift too!

Just a point on the ppf it is worth checking over carefully once done. That new GR 4RS I saw this week had quite a few defects.

And good to see the colour carried over to the bonnet smile !!

It suits the car and is reminiscent of Maritime Blue of the 964RS ...

Mine is qith my 992 GT3 RS.

Still stuck on the configurator. hehe

FWIW, I think the GT4 RS is in a similar situation to the 964 RS and other great P cars - it's a bit underappreciated at time of launch. Unfairly so.

Ha! Well maybe, but the 964 RS was always kind of rare, especially compared to the current GT4 RS. Back when they were launched they were a lot of money too. Probably outnumbered by GT4 RS's by 5:1 already in the UK. I can still remember trying to persuade my father that he needed one back in 1992, but he stuck with his 964 C4 coupe. If he'd kept that it would have done well for value. Long term the 964 RS turned out a good investment for those that were able to get them.

As a colour Racing Yellow appears to be making a comeback.

Both Leeds Nov 23 550 miler sold on Wednesday and Prestons March 24 450 miler 4RS sold yesterday both at full AP. By coincidence almost identical spec WP cars with part painting to bonnet.

The yellow rims must have been the clincher lol.

MannyLon that looks awesome - but the wife would kill me, hence GTsilver!! My car went into build yesterday (app said 25 June) so a 10 delay seems to be across the board. I wonder if it will arrive in September.....
