Yep the SRS is a collectors wet dream, but I want one as a second car weekend toy so the compromises are irrelevant! But have no chance of getting one so perhaps a regular 718 Spyder will do although for half the price the 987 Spyder is a better choice!

Withdrew my LOI. After running around in the 4RS for a few months now I am not feeling any desire for a SRS. I buy cars to use not to sit in a collection or as an investment. I just cannot justify the reduced practicality and lack of usability with the extra performance on offer. The RS is great on track and borderline dreadful on the road. Take away the track bit of the SRS and not sure what you have left? That and my spec comes in at nearly £170K and whilst it’s potentially not an issue give that it will certainly hold its value very well I just do not see a Boxster at that price.
Perhaps I am now officially old (61) getmecoat where do I hand my PH card in?
The SRS is aimed at the road rather than track. With the roof off it should be epic.

My cars are all driven. Just got back from an Alps trip in 2RS.

I appreciate that everyone is different and has different thresholds. I just do not fancy a decent continental trip with the constant blare of intake noise a few CM above my ear. I just don’t find the 4RS in the faintest bit pleasurable to drive on the road, it’s harsh, stupidly noisy and incredibly stiff. Mine has amassed an incredible set of rattles and squeaks in 4000 miles, not that you can hear them mind except on the overrun. It makes a GT3 RS feel quite civilized smile
I appreciate that the softer sprung SRS will put right some of those wrongs but I believe from the various reviews that they are also extremely noisy.

Should I have enough resources I would have one in the garage and I would use it as much as possible. However I need to pick and choose my toys carefully and consider Mrs BigM in the decision matrix. I am feeling a lot of love for a Huracan Technica ATM. Choices choices.

Well considering how prissy you were with others like myself driving the cars with your strong moral compass despite them being insured before the DVSA filing, that’s very surprising you still see fit to drive it.

In summary, Porsche found a cracked spherical joint where it bolts onto the tub on a CGT wishbone in for service in 2019. Each wishbone has four mounting points to the tub. They monitored in service vehicles since, and found no more incidents.

Their analysis is the material the spherical joint is made from does not prevent corrosion in extreme circumstances, and they plan to replace all CGT wishbones with new ones, the spherical joints of which will feature a change in material composition including chromium and molybdenum. Parts and fitting will be free of charge to owners.

Obviously a logistical nightmare, new parts won't be available until August 2024 at the earliest. All cars are affected globally and Porsche have issued a 'Stop Drive' campaign akin to an aircraft grounding and the recall is registered in the UK with DVSA. Based on this Chubb have pulled cover for road use and Aviva and others will do the same.

Initially an inspection was planned to 'sign off' cars as safe to use until the new parts arrive, that was subsequently withdrawn.

So we cannot drive our CGT's on the road for at least 12 months.

Many thanks, understood.

That's a bummer, but respect to Porsche covering the costs ... now I understand, thanks again.

Having recently been out in a mate's 'normal' 718 Spyder, I've just watched a video showing how the roof is put on the RS (which is obviously different to the 'normal' Spyder's) and am curious as to work out how Porsche make the RS secure.

If the roof clips on to the top of the windscreen and is then tensioned by the rear buttresses what's to stop some stranger unclipping the buttresses and unfolding the roof?

Know the car's alarmed and all that but surely Porsche will have ensured that the above can't happen. Maybe the rear clips lock when the car's locked

I am sure they have thought of that but I will be happy to answer the question in the New Year smile

Pains me to say it but I would have to have add some weight and paint that bonnet.

Been looking at the spec and what exactly do you get for the near £10K weisach pack aside from the bare carbon bonnet and a few other wee trinkets?

I’m in line for one but the dealer has been known to insist on adding the Weissach pack as a condition of allocation…

I will tell them to poke it if it is on this occasion as can’t really see the point of it.

Would rather spend on ccb and or pts

Yes, it looks poor value and basically just a way to squeeze more £ out of the punters! You going for buckets or comfort?

Good luck with that. It’s a condition of PTS that you spec Weissach.

I'm sure they would allow you to Special Wishes painting the bonnet ... for an extra how much ??

But why would Porsche offer the car without Weissach if they were also happy for OPC's to refuse orders without it ??

Is this Porsche ? Is it some OPC's ? Or is it both ??

If so it's a very bad look ....
