Open question, would you trade in a MY23 GT4 for a Spyder RS build slot
Asking for a friend
IMHO the Spyder RS is the pinnacle of the boxster/cayman platform. Others will argue the 4 RS but remember if it wasn’t for the humble boxster we would not have the 4RS.
If you have a Gt4 and love track days and happy with the car then I would stick but for high days and holidays the Spyder all the way.
I always say the best car you own is the one you get to drive all the time. Chap on here has done 120k in his 987 Spyder and imo he is having more fun than the chap who does less than 2 k a year in his limited edition mega bucks special.

Dunno Tyrome, wish I onew more of the black art that is suspension tuning but the experienced and top HC I race against all dump OEM stuff (GT4 GTS) and run KW or Nitrons usually with firmer springs to reduce camber loss on hard compression (hope I have got that right)!
I dont think you got the black art right mate, its witch craft anywaysmile
15k on dampers is nuts unless you have to,plenty of other good/better makes for half the price.
Manthey used to be kw,probably still is.

When JZM fitted the KW 3 way Clubsports to my 981 I was told that they had applied the Manthey valve settings for the Nurburgring.

The only adjustment I made was to firm up the fronts by one click to minimise a little float at the top of Clay Hill ( Oulton Park) ... was recommended by a race engineer sitting in the passenger seat ...

Yep, Manthey still work with KW.

Some reports that OEM 4RS damper is actually by ZF Sachs instead of Bilstein as per the GT4… would like to see some evidence of that as I’ve heard conflicting.

As I said in my post… there are other options maybe for less money or better quality… but you’re buying into no questions asked warranty protection and factory support with the Manthey bits.

I do the same, +1 click harder all around of LS Comp, discovered through experimentation and applied research.

their "definitely no regrets" was short lived!
The owner states in his Instagram post that he has no regrets about the colour.
This is not to say he did not sell the car for what could be a multitude of other reasons……
Maybe he just needs the money elsewhere?
It seems odd that a lot of the (negative) commentary comes from folk who do not actually own a
4RS- why bother?
I do not own a Sierra Cosworth so would not feel inclined to start banging on about Sierra Cosworths on a Ford forum. Odd.

It’s a thread about 4RS availability I know but some folk who don’t actually appear to even be in the market for one seem to relish posting regularly how much the 4RS have depreciated etc
I wish they would just go away and buy a used Fiesta ST and leave the negative talk alone. It gets so tedious.

In the meantime those that can afford one and have one are out driving one of the most engaging Porsches ever made

Nice colour. Looks like it's up for about £16k over list price, which might be a bit rich, but I'm not sure if many more allocations will be available, let alone PTS allocations. Whoever owns it has done 1900 miles in 3 months, so they can't have disliked it all that much. If they can then go on to sell it for about what they paid for it, probably worth a punt, if their circumstances dictate.

I've generally kept cars pretty much forever historically, but with new Porsche ownership, I have often flicked them around within a year or so more recently. They've depreciated so little in recent years (my base 718 Cayman had actually gone up a bit in retail sale price last year) that ordering a new one soon after taking delivery felt like a no-brainer. Those times might be coming to an end now, which will be fine with me. I'll be able to revert to hanging onto them for 5-10 years. Maybe even longer if the world goes electric for all new cars.

Trying to figure out if I can keep both the 981 GT4 and the 718 GTS 4.0 when the GT4 RS gets delivered. I'm slightly short of garage space for that, but the basic long-term economics and practicality of having 3 of them feels relatively low risk. However I'm also hoping to remain married to someone that just doesn't "get" cars in general, let alone fine mid-engined sports cars. And she has had the luxury of a large space for gardening equipment that could easily house a Cayman in addition to mowers and plant pots...

Sorry, rambling, but this looks like someone that might be trying to maintain, or is subjected to, a "one in, one out" policy. If they've managed 3 months of it in a PTS GT4 RS, then kudos, and more power to their elbow!

I am in no position to judge. It looks to be a great car, carefully spec'ed.

Liam

Unfortunately when my partner discovered how much I’d spent on a 4RS it also cost me a Volvo XC90.
She protested that it was not fair she’d given me 2 children yet drove around in a crap family car whilst I was buying Porsches…….I bought her a xc90 because I love her and to stop the migraines

The more I’ve driven my 4RS the more I love it-

That noise will be what everyone will be crying out for when they stop making cars like this. It’s what sets it apart just like the M3 CSL induction.

I do agree, one of the last to escape prohibitive legislation, designed to protect us but also limiting us.

You don’t even need to be using all the revs to enjoy the concert.
What was it AP said was the calling card of 4RS?… ‘let me entertain you’

I have no skin in the game here, but my own experience (admittedly on track, wearing a crash helmet) as a passenger in a 4RS was pure entertainment. The noises the car makes and the power delivery were unbelievable. Sublime.

Not as raw and rough as a Mezger and not quite the emotion, but you can forget and forgive that when an a car pulls so well, swaps ratios as easily and sounds better than just about any other new car on sale right now.

How about this PTS ... £15k+ under list with a three year warranty, one owner, low miles.
