GT4RS - Availability, what’s the latest?

It's been there a couple of weeks ... when the indies get delivery mileage GT cars to sell it's clear that the OPC's are not finding easy customers.
It's also clear that there are deals to be done at OPC's ... but for all the obvious reasons they are unlikely to advertise anything that may set a new market low ...

I get the feeling there's a mix of genuine cancelled orders and over production. I have been offered a new but spec locked car at list but I would want to spec my own at 150k with 20k guaranteed depreciation Im not up for making concessions. I reckon a proper allocation would come if I pushed all three of the OPCs I've had dealings with especially given I have a GT4 to chop in to sweeten the deal.
I'm not opposed to having a used one really but are they work 50-60k more than what I have?

I think the answer to this really depends on what you love about the GT4 and what you would like to change.I'm not opposed to having a used one really but are they work 50-60k more than what I have?
The 4RS is a very different car to a 4. The much lower gear set, the rabid engine, the ultra firm suspension, the NVH, all place much greater demands on the driver to get involved, the RS is a scruff of the neck car. Grab it boot it and enjoy the thrill. The GT4 has a much wider bandwidth and is much more subtle in its delivery of fun, the benefit being when you are not in the mood for a hot lap the 4 can still deliver, the RS cannot.
I can fully see why to a lot of people the RS is just too much like hard work, whilst equally to some folk they are the best thing ever.
So how much value do you place on the RS’s ability to thrill vs the loss of bandwidth?
Personally £30-40K feels about right, at £60K delta you can almost have 2 GT4’s for one RS and that’s just silly.
It will be very interesting in a year or two once things settle down and we see how many 4RS cars actually get delivered, to see where the market ends up.
I jave been lucky enough to get an allocation. It could still be specced (just). A cancelled order that someone on here introduced me to and which the dealer was willing for me to have. I am going silver non WP clubsport black wheels and extended leather with silver stictching; FAL; grey cage belts and door pulls and LEDs. Imagine it will be the most conservative RS ever specced. I am also having the MR shocks as they have been stupendously good on my 981. Will it be worth the £85k to change? Well my view is yes. I though hard about Chris’ shift to a GT3 991.2RS. But this was a bit more and i really enjoy how the Cayman chassis handles. New/barely used WP GT4RS bump right up against these and I suspect this and the incessant whinging about noise is putting real buyers off. If anyone here has tried Dundon’s full package for a 981 GT4 (I have) then it cannot be any worse and Dundon’s incurable drone led me to switching to Cargraphics and Akra exhaust. Anyway man maths worked for me and hopefully i will have dialled it in for HC season next year.
Big thank you to the guy on here who gave me the lead!

Agreed. I’ve mentioned this before, the numbers Porsche are underwriting these cars is very interesting v screen prices. It will be very interesting in a year or two once things settle down and we see how many 4RS cars actually get delivered, to see where the market ends up.
The delta in underwritten end of term values is c£25-30k, but screen prices are still way way above that at c £60-70k.
The cost to change my 4 to the 4RS would have been an underwritten delta of £30k, but the actual cost to me to change would have been much much more as I would have had to take an additional hit of at least £40k depreciation to get to the underwritten values. That additional hit is magnified by another £20k+ if you buy used.
It’s the main reason I don’t go for my allocation. For those with a 4, unless you are loaded and/or a track addict and/or a driving god who can really extract the difference on UK roads, then there’s no financial reason to change.
Personally, unless you’re willing to write off £20-30k the moment you place your order, then IMO a basic (ish) spec car (non-WP, non PTS, non mag wheels etc) is the way to go, but even then at current list (£108k when launched, but now £125k) it’s still going to financially sting over the term.
Real life depreciation is back and here to stay, the only way the situation is going to change is if interest rates come down, and let’s be honest, I think those days are over.

Hi all, I’ve recently obtained an allocation without any stipulations.
Black, WP, pccb, lift and a few other bits. Just shy of £148k inc on the road costs.
I’m under no illusion it will depreciate but it will be at a slower rate than many other cars in this price bracket.
It’s a real unicorn in my opinion that will be appreciated more in a few years time.
Mine is a June build which is scheduled to arrive early September.
Will post pics as soon as it’s here 👍
