I thought this thread was about GT4RS availability?
My comment was trying to show that there clearly is availability, times have changed. That’s my point ??
Obvious point made in patronising tone. Pork buyers know times have changed…My comment was trying to show that there clearly is availability, times have changed. That’s my point ??

Look through Autotrader today it appears the GT4RS is about list now or only very slightly over. Dare I say it, come winter there will be some deals to be had.
Have to admit I think the same, there were high 20's around March time which quickly dropped to 16/17 available on AT, now back to high 20's. We're about to tip past the longest day and summer hasn't even shown itself yet. More being sold so there could be higher numbers towards the end of the year. The important thing to remember in the man maths debate is the £15K slice the dealers want (need?) when you want to bale out. The true value is the still inflated asking price less the £15K. So in my book even brand new registered 4RS are well under list now in terms of their “value” as an asset.
All this cheers me up a lot as I prefer a “normal” market.

I still think that a GT4RS to spec at list would be fair value and a great car.
The alternative is an existing build at close to the desired spec ... some with almost the original three years warranty ... and I guess there would always be a deal for a buyer.
My strategy was to explain politely to the OPC what I thought the car (which I ended up buying) was worth, and why. A few days later I had a call from the sales person agreeing with me and asking if I would buy the car at that price I had proposed. It took me moments to agree and the OPC were absolutely first class in supplying a new set of tyres (the existing tyres were old) and also servicing the car prior to collection.
A very pleasurable experience.

Meant to ask you before did you have any remedial work undertaken under warranty to your GR RS regarding the internal fittings/dash etc which you said were excessively creaking/noisy etc because there were no signs of this when I drove it for around 50 miles on a variety of roads last year....it was fine.
No I didn't go back to the OPC and ask for a fix. 2 reasons; firstly I don't trust them to do a decent job, and secondly I had decided to get rid of it.
The most irritating bit of NVH, over and above the intake noise was the odd plastic bits attached to the roll cage that serve no apparent purpose. They were actually loose and rattled against the cage nearly all the time. Should be an easy fix but see above. Drove me mad on the way back from Spa. There were a lot of squeaks, rattles and clocks all the time on the roads we have here, which are very rough to be fair. The usual culprits; helper springs on the front and the cage, along with something random on the rear left suspension and a chronic belt whine at about 2500rpm. All of which you can shrug your shoulders and say I'm a whuss and it's an RS what do I expect?
What I expect is something like my R8 which has been thrashed to death for 6 years and is still exemplary.
Incidentally I don't remember the dash being a problem? Mind you I've been to bed since it went.
Still great car though, just not for me. I would have another at the right price. Was chronically overvalued, not so bad now.

As the years go on, we’ll move past the GT3 era and the GT4RS will have its own place as a rare and exciting car, with the back story of people waiting for many years for Porsche to agree to fit a Cayman with the big boy engine.

Definitely has its place. As the years go on, we’ll move past the GT3 era and the GT4RS will have its own place as a rare and exciting car, with the back story of people waiting for many years for Porsche to agree to fit a Cayman with the big boy engine.
Hopefully as ‘values’ level, cars will soon start getting into drivers hands… then we can have some more detailed driving impressions and, car and driver development discussions.
Somewhat of an unfortunately long lost discourse around these parts.

Interesting that you were offered a gt4rs slot and the option of a SRS slot, did they ask you to buy the watch or a tycan as well or was it just spec and order what you actually want?
My pal had to buy the watch and also had to px his existing GT car in. I have a feeling you'll just be able to straight buy one over winter. They clearly have no overs value now so it's just a car that people that want them to use will buy now? fridaypassion said:

The days of buying stipulations/conditions on the 4RS are over. Any OPC still doing that, doesn’t ‘need’ to sell the car. There are plenty of OPC’s offering 4RS allocations without any stipulations/conditions, I was offered one a couple of months ago, and I know of several others at the time, and since.
