997 - What colour?
Discussion
Hope to buy a 997S at some point this year and after speccing one up at AFN at the w/e, the only hard decesion and one that I am still not sure of, is the colour. (Guess its nice to be in a position to choose a Porsche! )
Pity you can't 'Poll' on this forum, but which colour is best? I would like flat Black (polishing is a fav pastime for me), but is it going to show the swirl marks/damage too much. Anyone own a 'Black' 997 and wish they had gone for another colour? My Missus, wants to go for the Atlas Grey Metallic, but I think it is not a strong enough colour (may look a little pastey in direct light), so I guess the middle ground is Basalt Black. Is that the most boring choice of all????!!!! I do like Seal Grey and the Artic silver looks excellent but is too common. Blue is a no, so the brave choice would be guards red?
So can I ask some peeps to post a pic of their car and/or thoughts on their colour choice.
Many thanks.

I had a solid black Boxster a few years ago and swore I'd never have a black Porsche again. The combination of warm, slidey surfaces and the local cat's claws meant its bootlid soon resembled something that had been dragged through a bramble patch.
I chose Seal Grey for my 997 as I felt it was the perfect colour for a London car. Different but not too attention grabbing, and not as ubiquitous (at the time) as Arctic Silver.
If you want to see more shots of my car, you could always follow this rather shameless link to the classifieds section...http://pistonheads.com/sales/76690.ht

Have had 2 Atlas grey 997's and I love the colour. Very nearly Black but with a twist.
I can't agree strongly enough - depending on ambient light conditions, it looks black, grey, dark blue and even slightly brown...!
I originally wanted Basalt black and was then disappointed when I saw the colour in the flesh. When I saw a 997 at the dealership I knew that was the colour for me and each time I look at my car, I know I made the correct decision.
You need to get down to your local dealership and view some physical cars, to make the right choice.
Good Luck!

personally, id go for one of the rarer colours, like this one www.pistonheads.com/sales/75076.htm (also a shameless plug, sorry)
for me, its versatility means you dont get tired of looking at it so quickly

With all due respect, whilst silvers and greys are safe, inoffensive colours, that are easy to keep looking respectable, they are just too common now. Something like 65% of 997s are silver or grey.
Mind you they do at least look better with a contrasting interiors such as cocoa or terracotta.
