992.1 touring v winged / pdk v manual
Discussion
I m in a predicament, this week I ve sold my 991 GT3 Clubsport and track modified Exige V6. Owned both for 4 years and no longer have the time to do as many trackdays as I used to but I still want to enjoy the few I do.
I must have a GT3 in the garage, it exceeded my expectations hugely and has been an incredible car to own.
Lucky enough to have some other toys but having considered a 600LT, I would prefer the screaming flat 6 as a road x track car.
Would love to have a touring but one big issue is the lack of harnesses, for me being quite slim it makes a massive difference on track. Especially in a manual having to brace myself with my knee isn t very enjoyable.
Anyone worked around this? Removable harness bar or something?
So I m thinking I m going to have to go for a winged GT3 but then it seems sensible to have a PDK for full attack mode.
Can anyone give me an alternative perspective?
Edit - why did I sell the 991? I’ve owned it for 4 years and after trying a 992, I found the front end behaviour more inline with my driving style and preference.

PDK vs manual.... the age old debate
extra engagement vs ultimate lap time...
if ultimate track times are a goal, wouldn't you want mid engine'd too (GT4 RS)?
whatever
If I were lucky enough to have other toys and getting a track focused 911.... PDK for me, but I'd also be getting the 991.2 as I think it looks better, which obviously is both subjective and does sweet FA for track times

Yes fitted a Brey-Krause harness bar in my 991.2 gt3I must have a GT3 in the garage, it exceeded my expectations hugely and has been an incredible car to own.

On the manual vs PDK question, I went through every used 992.2 GT3 on Porsche Finder UK last Friday (23 Oct, asking prices, 40 cars at UK Porsche Centres), in case it's useful:
- Coupe: 3 manuals at £189,900-£201,900 against 20 PDKs at £172,500-£207,950. The cheapest manual is £17,400 over the cheapest PDK, but 11 of the 20 PDKs ask more than it, and the dearest coupe is a PDK.
- Touring: 6 manuals at £195,950-£221,990 against 11 PDKs at £187,000-£209,900. As of the 23rd that's £8,950 more at the bottom and £12,090 more at the top, about 5-6%. (The cheapest PDK Touring has since gone up to £194,750, so the gap at the bottom is closing.)
- All 40 ask more than the £159,700 list, and the manual is a £0 option new.
Worth knowing if you're shopping: Swindon's 267-mile manual showed £182,850 on the Finder search page, £191,000 on its own Finder page, and £182,850 on its PH advert, so ask which one stands. Perth's manual dropped from £197,900 to £189,900 within a few hours on Friday. Outside the OPC network, Romans International had a 2,220-mile car at £184,950.
For comparison, Germany is much closer to list (€211,200). There the cheapest manual Touring was €400 above the cheapest PDK, but 5 of the 8 manuals asked more than the dearest PDK.
(Disclosure: I put this together for a free weekly price newsletter I write. I'm not in the trade and have nothing for sale.)

I dabbled with the idea of a manual Touring a few months ago but after finally driving one I realised that it wasn’t for me, maybe 20 years ago! Anyway, my searching revealed just how hit and miss the market is, with some surprising variance in prices and it was hard to understand what a good deal looks like.
There’s lots of chat on 911 forums about prices crashing as the flippers start to disappear, along with Porsche reducing U.K. deliveries while hiking up prices.
