Hi Folks.

As per the title, has anyone taken delivery of a 992.2 Turbo S yet?

I can only assume if it is the case, and 992.1 Turbo was previously owned.

Can I ask on initial comparison views and opinions?

Thanks in advance.

The Turbo always seems to be regarded as the most boring of the 991 and 992 ranges. 5 minute wonders. People are going to take such a depreciation hit on these.

Intercooler said the 992.2 Turbo S was impressive at the launch (Spain ?), but was disappointing and frustrating on UK roads.
I think they went to Scotland and back iirc.

They said the 992.2 T would be more rewarding and more enjoyable in the UK.

I can see why people might buy into that, but I respectfully disagree.

I've had 992 GTS,992 T and currently have a 992.1 turbo S; Whilst good, accomplished cars, the GTS and T are absolutely neither more rewarding or enjoyable as the Turbo S.

I had a 675LT spider at the same time as all of them, but the Turbo S was the car that made the decision to sell it as it did everything just slightly better without any worries.

Im not sure what could be frustrating with 700+ bhp, all wheel drive and all wheel steering; the 992.1 Turbo S is outrageous to drive, and the .2 is supposed to be a vast improvement....im looking forward to getting my hands on one.

They are a bit toppy on rrp now, but so is everything...if '23 Turbo S are hovering around the £155k mark, I suppose its just the way it is all over.

More exciting / explosive: Turbo S
More engaging / satisfying: Carrera T
More usable fun at sane speeds: Carrera T
More special occasion / supercar feel: Turbo S

If your measure is engagement rather than performance, the 992 T is probably the better driver’s car. The Turbo S has to be a 5 minute wonder - we see it every time, the market gets flooded straight away soon as owners have had their 5 mins of fun with it.

Turbos tend to hold their value quite well , a 992.1 turbo s was 156k at launch ,look at the used prices now .

My measure was on comparing each of the models you list during my ownership and useage.

Its as simple as this; get a T, your gonna want a GTS; get a GTS, your gonna, want a Turbo S; its just about where your budget is.

I wasn't looking for comparison views on them cars, i was looking for comparison of 992.1 v 992.2 as I havnt tried a 992.2 Turbo S yet.

This '5 mins of fun' analogy was first used with the 996 TT, and possibly upto and including the 991.2.

You could however label that with any car; the 675 spider was pretty quick, and i kept that 4.5yrs and only departed when the 992.1 Turbo S arrived.

The 992.1 Turbo S cab was quicker, and as I mentioned, does everything that little bit better, especially in poor weather conditions and i have never got bored of it.

Chris Harris views the 992.2 Turbo S as the first Porsche he would absolutely take over a GT3; i was interested if that view was echoed by someone who has taken delivery of a 992.2 Turbo S that's on here...I cannot find the Apollo posts on it that were mentioned earlier to see what his opinion was.

It does seem a big step forward.

Bizarre question.

A lot of things are important to me, enjoyment being the biggest.

The 992.1 & 992.2 have rws along with a universally appreciated chassis.

The 675 i had previously had is also known for a pretty decent steering feel and chassis, and the 992.1 Turbo S is on an equal par i would say.

I have to point out, as per the topic, I was hoping someone who has moved from a 992.1 to 992.2 Turbo S would give their thoughts on the differences of those 2 specific models.

Hi,
To cover your point with regards to how does the 992.2 tts drive in comparison to the 992.1 one. In short, it s completely different.

In the 992.1 one you have a fair bit of Lag below 3.7k rpm. This is completely eliminated in the new one, it just picks up and goes in every gear at any rev range. The steering has a lot more feel and feedback. The suspension ride quality has a much bigger range in both comfort and sports modes, the front end turns in is very GT3 like, this new car has the front active under body aero flaps from the RS/918, it works great in conjunction with anti roll bars that now work directly from the HV battery, the body control reaction is instant. It rides very Mac like in the fast corners now as in very flat even when pushing on. Its very agile the way it moves around and feels a lot lighter than what it is .The only point I am not keen on is that it could do with a bit more sound. But it s still a brilliant car that is great fun to drive. I would have thought that you should be getting a PEC drive soon.

If you look at my point above with regards to a Mac, I said it rides very Mac like in the corners now as in very Flat. Agree on the wheels size, but that’s about were we are today.

Hi Apolo.

Thanks for the comprehensive comparison from someone who has had both...its what I was looking for.
My TTS cab is in production and I havn't booked my PEC yet as I unfortunately dont have the spare time just now leading up to our family holiday.
Its leaving me a small amount of time to undertake before delivery as it arrives mid August for Sept reg.
Im glad that its going to feel entirely different delivery from the 992.1; it wouldn't be ideal if it was only a marginal improvement.

Strange post.

At no point did I ask how a 992.2 TTS compared to anything apart from a 992.1 TTS.

Please do not change my post contents to suit whatever agenda or baiting you are trying to create.

I have no interest in validation from randoms on an Internet forum, unlike it appears yourself with that post.

Thanks for the reply though.

Sorry ,i did note your post and get it,i was referring to the on par comment.
Sadly we are where we are with huge wheels to cover even bigger brakes to cope with the weights and speeds.
The 675 is still ahead in sports car driver& car dynamics.
