PPF on Headlights
Discussion
Lots of info about this on here and I don’t think there’s a conclusive answer. I had the same dilemma as you and decided that I’d go for it and if I ever needed to remove from my lights I would do it myself so I could do it really carefully. Never needed to remove to date so not regretted my decision as yet.
I asked recently for my new GT3.
I've always had PPF on headlights, but with 992 my PPF guy told me I must choose before having it done or not. He said it now states on the Xpel system that all customers need to be made aware of the delamination issues. I'm not worried about delamination at all, but the worry for me is the fact it now also specifically states in the owners handbook not cover the headlights in PPF/film... so knowing my luck I'd end up with a faulty light unit which Porsche would then reject on warranty due to the film being fitted.
If you go on the internet, you'll fall down various rabbit holes with no definitive answer. So, the final options really are based on your risk appetite:
1. Don't PPF. Run the risk of stone/debris damage, and a faster break-down of the plastic looking tired
2. PPF. Run the risk of a warranty claim (not just delamination, but any type of headlight issue) being rejected by Porsche
Given 992 headlights are straked back, I took the opinion that headlights were of low risk and decided not to have it done. Knowing from first hand experience what Porsche GB are like, there's also too much 'voided warranty' risk for me.
