wouldn't you have to anyway?
No idea, I still have the 991RS to be done whenever the product shows up. I am not an avid follower of this stuff, just wanted updated nav and integrated bluetooth and have a general preference for OEM upgrades.housemouse said:
Dimensions will the be same and it will likely fit physically in any 997 / 987, but the .2 has a different electrical system and the new unit almost certainly won't work in a .1.
Hopefully it'll be miles better than the unit for the .1 which looks fairly crap. But I doubt it.
Hopefully Porsche have listened to the feedback and not gone with a cheap Chinese manufacturer this time around.Hopefully it'll be miles better than the unit for the .1 which looks fairly crap. But I doubt it.
What is wrong with the 997.1 PCCM+?
It works pretty much identically to the PCM 4.1 in the 718, Macan and Cayenne etc.
I would imagine the factory fit are all based on Android.
It works well, the display is good, the auto dimming seems to work well as the ambient light changes.
The only niggle is the fact there was no wireless carplay as standard, but then many of the factory units don't have it either.

Wireless Car Play came out in iOS9 2015. The whole purpose of the PCCM+ is to bring things up to date. Not upto 2014 standards. It works pretty much identically to the PCM 4.1 in the 718, Macan and Cayenne etc.

A laggy and poor low-res screen too...only 800 × 480 pixels! Truly dreadful in my opinion....rather, a truly dreadful missed opportunity.

Personally, I'd say it looks cheap, which is subjective. Objectively, the display is total crap. And as you say, it doesn't have wireless CarPlay, which is pretty pathetic. It works pretty much identically to the PCM 4.1 in the 718, Macan and Cayenne etc.

It's not totally horrendous, but but it is pretty crap.
