991.1 Fault Cooling System

I was on a road trip through the Brecon Beacons when a "Fault Cooling System" visit garage message appeared. All temps were stable and the car drove as it should. A quick google reveals change over valve fault, but has anyone had this and what was the damage to your wallet?!

Parts aren't too bad (around £50-100 per valve from memory). Depends whether you need the relevant bit of loom / connector too.
Labour? At least 2 hours.

I had this recently. It must have been an air pocket somewhere. I filled the reservoir up to level with ionised water, and had the OPC check it over. It went away never to come back.

Check the water pump is not leaking, it's a known weak spot as are the numerous solenoid valves - there's 6 or 7 from memory and sometimes its not easy to pinpoint which is at fault although the changeover valve is a good start.

Whoever does the work needs to be precise they create a perfect vacuum, otherwise it will throw up regular yellow warnings.

All sorted. Turned out to a vacuum hose that had disconnected itself from the left hand exhaust pipes. JZM Porsche diagnosed and fixed in double quick time at an acceptable cost. Would highly recommend their services
