996 C4s Front Shocks
Discussion
Hi all, I have found an issue with aftermarket and genuine front standard shock absorbers.
There is a 14mm difference in the length of the exposed piston shaft, from top of shock body to the top of the threaded part.
This difference results in lower initial preload on the spring, and I have seen 4 cars with same issue.
The only thing I can see is that the superseded number does not cross over on any aftermarket catalogue, but the original number does.
The cars have all been standard 029 suspension.
I have checked on the latest Porsche bulletin, and C4S is not showing any info on using different spacers.
