"How bright? Nearly three times brighter than the original units."

Wonderful. Another set of vehicle headlights to destroy my retinas, render nightvision a mere dream, and recategorise my mirrors into the 'decoration-only' category in one move.

Because I’m unlikely to ever come across one on the road, I’ll not begrudge them.

I will. Factory, approved aftermarket (if there is such a thing) or botched cheap-bulb installed in a halogen unit, LEDs are a blight from the Devil.

No, I have just driven something small and low to the ground, so anything with so-called 'good' headlights (even those damned Minis that have captured a white dwarf star in each unit) just fills my mirrors so much they are useless, and proceeding when one is coming the other way is pretty much based on faith.

Sounds better than the standard 993 six candlepower at the front end, but not at that price.

Crazy price , one of the best upgrades i made on my 73 car was modern lights behind the old glass, transforms night driving into a lot safer mode.If you think 993 headlights are poor, early 911 are hideous on todays roads.

The lights on my 964 are dreadful. I don't often drive it at night, but on a dark day in the rain, you start to feel quite vulnerable.

Just get a HID kit. I presume 964 kits are available? Should be less than 100GBP, and won't blind oncoming traffic.

How did we ever drive them at night without crashing back in the 90s......TBF eyesight was a lot sharper back then biggrin

Well yes, the feeling of vulnerability is probably more due to the fact that the 964 is tiny compared to most modern cars. Including the latest 911s of course!

My BiL has recommended these :

He says they’re a gamechanger :

On average, 65-year-olds are blinded by headlight glare for 9 seconds. For 15-year-olds, this is reduced to 2 seconds. As we age, our retina changes, resulting in fewer rod cells. This means that light receptors responsible for black-and-white vision become less effective over time.

Thanks doc,did not realise this.
My old snotter used to be lethal in the dark,on main with bonnet spots and 100w main beam pushing on,car comes the other way and dip to candels smile, now it has modern lights totally safe on dip.We have lots of wild boar and deer to look out for.
But agree the latest lights are to bright.
