Hi all,

I have a small dent in the rear arch of my 911, its the type that a Dent Devil would normally be able to get out. However, due to the plastic stone chip guard, I have been advised its not possible without removing the plastic film.

We are going to give it a go with the film in place and im not against removing the film, however:

Does anyone have any experience at removing these films? How would it be done? I understand its glued to the arch so I don't want to make things worse!

To replace it, I assume its a case of ebay?!

As luck would have it, its booked in for a ceramic next week, so as long as removing it doesnt do damage, I am hoping the detailer could clean up the paint?

Generally just a big adhesive sticker, a hairdryer working small sections at a time should allow you or whoever to peel it off.

I had the stone guard removed when the car was ppf's, then another one put on top of the ppf (doubl protection for that area).

Nobody said it would be difficult, so maybe take to a ppf place and they can heat/steam it off, if you are worried.

I am pretty much sure they heat up the protection films for a smooth removal.

I would personally take it to a detailer that can do all of it, so, remove the film, fix the dent, decontaminate paint, speed polish the car and then apply the ceramic coating.

I know my detailer would sort it all out and to a first class standard. He is Refined Detail in Henfield, Sussex

All the best.

I had a dent removed with the film in place, tbh it was fine with just a small abrasion to the film surface. You’re right to try it first imo.

Thanks all,

I was hoping someone would say it was possible with the film in place too!

Appreciate the feedback!

I had same problem on 992.1. Dent master came out and said they could only do it without removing the ppf if they could gain access from behind. There is a small access point under the wheel arch, failing that you can remove the rear light section to get to it. I used Chartwell Derby, for the rear light and assembly removal and refit. The repair was perfect.

I thought it was worth an update,

Dent removal carried out, did a great job without removing the PPF, there is still a slight mark but you really have to look for it. Of course its still annoying as I know its there.

Small mark on the PPF but I can live with that, it might actually be fixable.

OPC has offered to remove the wheel and inner arch to tap the dent out which would completely solve it, but its not worth doing as a one off job, so I will likely do this when its in anyway for a service.

Appreciate all the comments
