992 GT3 RS allocations
Discussion
Has anyone got an idea how much longer they will build the 992.1 GT3 RS? I had toyed with the idea of going down the Ferrari route, but they are too mileage sensitive and I don’t want to live with mileage anxiety. Obviously if it’s still an option, finding an allocation will be the next challenge, however as that market seems to be cooling off I might get lucky, you never know. Any advice much appreciated.

Herewith the registration numbers for the 991.1 GT3RS, 991.2 GT3RS and the first year of the 992.1 GT3RS ... the next chart shows the additional cars (in the total change) registered in the first half of 2024 ... there are no figures yet for the second half, and we know that Porsche are still delivering cars.

They usually manufacture in years and the years run to the summer shut-down in August ....
The 992.2 GT3 is only just out, the RS generally comes a year or so later ... but there is usually a gap ...
Take a look at How Many Left if you want to analyse this further ???
The rest is luck and working the OPC network, but the cheapest secondhand car in the market is now listed at around £30k over (at High Wycombe ?)... and there are a lot for sale so ??

Definitely try asking around. From what I’ve heard OPCs will still try the ‘ No chance but if you buy a Taycan we will probably able to help you line’… and then an allocation will miraculously materialise.
Failing that, there are loads around and you can probably get a deal.

Their only aim is to maximise revenue per customer.
So they will try it and there will always be someone that will bite.
Plus they kind of have to these days due to carbon fleet mandates which restrict how many exhaust emissions cars a manufacturer can sell/import vs EV as a ratio. They get penalised 15k per unit over their quota.

Could this be a reason why, despite the number of unsold 992.1 GT3RS cars in the market, OPC's and specialist dealers with stock are trying to hang-on to any premium ?
Possibly as they’ll know, Overs will still work out cheaper that the loss you’d take on having to take an EV in order to wangle your ‘factory order’ slot. Its seems that mainly, if you’d really like a factory slot… they’ll want to make you pay for it… either via previous purchases or taking something else alongside it.
Trying to make its a privilege to be ‘invited’ to spec, whilst trying to run the volume play also.

I’m half considering changing a couple of cars around this spring as I’m still not getting on with my 911 as a daily. If there is any allocations, think the chances are very low I could be tempted at looking at a GT3 RS and buying another SVR as my daily.
The wife isn’t keen on the spoiler one bit though, “you’d look ridiculous in that” were her words

Exactly this, bought a Taycan and a GT4RS slot appeared From what I’ve heard OPCs will still try the ‘ No chance but if you buy a Taycan we will probably able to help you line’… and then an allocation will miraculously materialise.

I think you'll struggle to get a new GT3RS slot without an extensive buying history, or you are willing to take a bath on multiple purchases in quick succession to get a build, it won't be just a single car believe me. Even the usual YT "influencers" struggle to get a slot Mark McCann did quite a lengthy video on his experience trying to get a "potential" allocation. I think he had to buy 3 new Taycan Turbos from memory.
GT4RS is slightly different, there are stock cars on AT right now at or under list.

On Autotrader ... 10 cars with less than 100 miles on them, 7 with less than 500 miles on them ... and another 10 or so with mileages less than 5000 .
With OPC's ... 5 cars less than 100 miles, 3 with less than 500 miles ... and 7 with less than 5000.
What does that say ?

With OPCs - 7 for sale registered in the last 3 months, 5 alone in just the last 2 months. Clearly these cars are being allocated to the right people who the DPs knew would love and cherish them - oh, wait...

The amount of delivery mileage or less than 300 miles popping regularly for sale at OPCs and indies is….embarrassing.
Yet they don’t want to give allocations away, rather sell to loyal customers that don’t want it to buy it back or for them to flip it.
One indie even told me….”oh yes, this is coming straight from Porsche”.
Embarrassing.
Plus there’s 10 of 000s to shave off their advertised price, once you start being serious with OPCs.
The good thing is that the perceived value stays high and helps with reducing depreciation, relatively to its original list price.
