On a 991.2 weissach RS. I'm trading in my .1RS. How important are the mag wheels? The car im looking at doesn't have them.

Now I know they're a pain in the arse and was planning on purchasing a set of standard wheels and storing the mag wheels.

My question is, how important are the mags fpr resale? I've been offered a set for £15k but looking at adverts, they don't seem to attract a premium. Or am I missing something?

Are there any comparable cars with the mag wheels?

Some might say the WP cars should have the mag wheels, they will be lighter and it will feel slightly different. However the jeopardy of damaging them will be significant, even getting stones caught between the calliper and the inner rim.

Ultimately, you want to drive and enjoy the experience - it’s personal at the end of the day…..

The mag wheels were only available towards the end of the production run ... and the lack of supply did delay some orders.

Hence most 991.2 GT3RS do not have magnesium wheels.

I bought an early non-weissach car which floated my boat and found a set of mags new for £11000 ... might have been £11750 ? a while ago ... which gave me two sets of wheels for winter and summer tyres.

I have the specification of options on the North American 991.2 GT3RS which I'll post :

Cheers. Thats some useful info.

I have enjoyed my .1RS as they were intended. I do not own any garage queens, hence why I'm not fussed other than if I come to sell the car. And, thinking about it, the cost for the mag wheels is almost irrelevant given the cost of the car. I just want to go in with my eyes open that's all.

I'm surprised that so few cars were sold with the wheels. I imagine the number of wheels for sale is because they are so delicate and people get rid? But a third (roughly) of the cars currently for sale have standard wheels, I can only assume a proportion of owners add the wheels after they purchased a car with standard wheels, hence my original question.

In regards to comparable cars, its a real mix. There isn't a huge amount in it but the miles and the fact my car will have 3 years extended warranty makes it difficult to compare.

Indeed, I store my mags, at the mo I am running lightweight alloys with P Zero Corsa's

Refurbing mags can be a pain in the butt, apparently.

Lack of Mag wheels on 991.2 GT3 RS is in sizeable part due to the fact that there was a shortage and the available stocks were reserved for fulfilling 991.2 GT2 RS WP orders… those took priority, and then once they were satisfied it was selectable for 3RS again. Same thing happened with the WP Carbon fibre steering wheel centres. Many 3RS WP got delivered without and then were requested to come back to dealer later on for steering wheel swap to the proper item.

This gos all the way back to the 964 RS and Magnesium wheels , everyone took them off straight away and go cup copies as track work will damage them . Not a big story

Well I intend to use mine ... if they get damaged that will be a conversation.

Ian Jemmison in York can repair magnesium wheels ...

Worst thing with these cars is the wheel clearance for stones,a total pita, poor design. My mags had two complete gouges all the way around, one was more than 1mm deep, not just a case of repainting, spoils the road trips listening and by time you hear it,its to late.Better off getting some three peice bbs ,at least you can change the inner barrel.
Mags are not the issue, its the poor design of the clearance.
Some opc were selling mag sets at 8k a set some time ago.

Yes I had this with my GT4 ... thankfully only cosmetic damage.

The 21" rear of this car increase the clearance a little ... and the standard steel brakes are only 380mm vs the PCCB's 410/390mm ...

Yes crazy wait time, just got some motorsport centres which took 18 months, and some parts still on order which will be more than two years. But worth the wait, hopefully things will change now kw own them.
Outer Rims and inner barrels are available.
