Nothing, it's only the slipping that wrecks them. Dumping or sidestepping no issues.

Mega lap, bumped into him a few weeks ago and he let slip the lap time.

Looked a bit sketchy at 8:32 in the compression at Tiergarten, dab of oppo. at 250kmh!

I thought I could hear the clutch slipping ... maybe it was just the tyres ... but thanks for the info'

I used to do that with my 964RS in sprints until I heard that drive shafts could twist and break ... !

It'll be fair I think to add that the gt's lap being by bergmeister gives that lap a bit of an advantage over the usual sport auto lap by gebhardt.... but decent enough time for an old car sporting an obsolete gearbox I guess.... wink

Indeed, and it's held back with the original Sachs dampers vs modern ones and a decent geo.

Amazing time, considering it’s just tyres and then track development. Although as Hawkeye/Isaldiri says… probably a bit misleading to have a Bergmeister lap in amongst Gebhardt laps.

Bravo in any case. The car definitely deserved to get its second chance on modern rubber. A perennial question answered.

No wonder it was a problem on PS2's ... the original fitment before the PSS was N rated for the CGT ...

The original Tyre was Michelin Pilot Sport the PS2 was not available back then, pretty poor tyre and the car was very sketchy on them! For the recall PCGB had a new batch of PSS made, they are very good, I still prefer Cup 2 personally.

Na,250bhp on road tyres wont be a issue, even on proper hillclimb supersoft tyres i only know of one driveshaft that broke through a spiral fracture on a old 911 with a 20 year old drive shaft when side stepping the clutch at 6000 rpm.If concerened get the drive shafts gunbarrel drilled, good for 600bhp then.
Those original cgt michs gave me nightmares winter time.

The original 7:32 Supertest time was done by Von Sauma. Gebhardt wasn't around then. For comparison, the official factory time by Walter Rohrl, equalled in a later test by Marc Basseng, was 7:28.

Yeah. I just edited the post.

Gebhardt is usually 5-10 slower than official lap times from manufacturers.

Yep, as you say above pre 2011/12 the laps were of course von sauma (his last laps were around the time of the 4.0rs i think?), i just didn't want to overgeek things. Gebhardt is a bit faster than von sauma was I remember being told by some locals (well given the age differential you'd have hoped so!) as well fwiw....

Wonderful to see.

Would love to see a lap with the KW suspension and geo that many of us are running now - car definitely looked limited by pitch and roll.

And a cool way to advertise that Porsche has some belief in its new suspension parts (Jorg I understand signed off on them!).
