Silver 1987 3.2 Carrera sold on Collecting Cars (Australia)
Discussion
I owned my second 1987 3.2 Carrera from July 2005 to Sept 2011 and when I sold was told it was going to be shipped to Australia.
Sure enough it popped up on Collecting Cars in Australia.
The shame is when I sold the car I included a full file with all the history detailed on a spreadsheet along with supporting receipts for the work. This has clearly been lost/discarded.
The missing history from 2006 to 2011 was extensive including removal of rust from the sills and a full glass out respray, non of which was highlighted in the sale.
I did debate on making a bid and shipping back, but felt there was alot of risk due to the condition of the bodywork (in photos), limited history since I sold in July 2011 and high miles on the engine.
I still have the full history up to 2011 on spreadsheet so will share with the new owner if they get in touch.
KEY FACTS
This Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Sport is an attractive example of one of the definitive sports cars of the 1980s.
Under the rear lid is a 170kW naturally aspirated 3.2-litre air-cooled flat-six, partnered with the desirable Getrag G50 five-speed manual gearbox.
First registered in the UK, the car was imported to Australia in 2012.
The odometer shows 135,888 miles, though this is not warranted, as the service book shows that the speedometer was replaced in December 1989 at 15,376 miles by Monarch Cars (Little Aston) Porsche.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
The 911 Carrera is finished in a timeless Silver Metallic over Blue colour scheme.
It rides on a set of 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels finished in matte-black with anodised lips, wrapped in Pirelli Cinturato P7 tyres.
This original UK-market example features the sought-after ‘Sport’ package, which included Bilstein shock absorbers, sports seats, a front chin spoiler, and a ‘whale tail’ rear spoiler.
The specification includes a sunroof, rear wheel arch guards, headlamp washers, central locking, a three-spoke steering wheel, sport seats with electrical height adjustment, a rear window wiper, and a Blaupunkt stereo.
Accompanying the vehicle will be its owner’s manuals, service book and a spare wheel.
