When I was told I was surprised but we were all surprised when 992.2 GTS was launched immediately. Maybe car companies are changing their model plans and bringing everything forward because they don’t know how long they can produce ICE cars or what direction they will need to go in. I genuinely thought the ICE ban was going to be delayed or scrapped all together but Two Tier Kier has brought it forward to 2030 again.

If true, it will be earlier than anticipated.
However, I do believe Porsche will need it to maintain credibility with an important sector of the ‘911’ market.
The new hybrid GTS is a long way from the traditional simplicity of the original 911s, bristling with technology, digital interfaces, driver aids, ‘big brother’ interventions and weight - not to everyones taste.
If the next ‘T’ is to be “Manual only”, this could be a sign that the spec will be, hopefully, more analogue, driver focussed, and lighter.
I do think that many of the 992Ts were mainstream spec’d, with PDK, sunroof and a lot of weight adding options - where an ‘S’ would have been, perhaps, a better choice.

Was always going to be the S released in October, when did they decide to switch to T. That doesn’t make sense.
That’s right, S was first in the phase out, and if I remember well T was April 2025… I think what’s happened here is a bit of a st show at Porsche, a few board members and management are totally pissed about all the price increases and price gouging that was going on, and now a base Carrera with necessary options is ridiculous money, more so in Europe. 992.2 is not selling well across European countries. Even though 992.1 S production was cut during Covid and when Porsche decided on the upsell model, get them into GTS and Turbo S, the 911 Carrera S is their benchmark 911 and the bread and butter.. my guess they are really scared in this financial environment to release it, at another price increase, and be in danger of killing the goose.. also they made a ton of 992 T and a ton unsold or pre reg, so maybe they think 992.2 T price will make these 992.1 T look like bargains and shift.. Porsche have absolutely fked up here on pricing of 911 now, for a far inferior quality car. The profit on Turbo S is absurd. Again 991.2 T looks the winner on price and numbers built..Jumpingjackflash said:
I was told from a good source today the 992.2 Carrera T will be revealed in October and is manual only.
My source was spot on. Looks great, nice interior and love the wooden six speed gear knob. Is anyone starting to get concerned about the next generation 911 when Porsche are releasing all the 992.2 variations straightaway?
From a couple of news articles over the past couple of days, it sounds like the current engine line up will need to be revised for Euro 7 which I think they have to meet by the start of 2027. I guess if that is the case then, even releasing these cars now, they can only keep production for a couple of years which isn’t that long considering R&D costs etc.
Unless I’m wrong and they can continue to manage factors for a bit longer as long as it’s not a new model?

The 2035 milestone is due to be reviewed next year. Considering the apple pie sky high hopes are deemed too ambitious by most, if not all, major car manufacturers on the continent then I can see the date moving back, and then again and again repeat to fade.
I think it’s the Euro 7 regs which are approved - not the overall ban. Here’s a link to the article that states that the GT3 will only have two years - I assume that the other cars will probably have similar issues. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/porsch...
