I need to change my Boxster for a 911 in order to occasionally carry a smallish (9 years) grandchild ( who will be probably going to LM2025 with my son & myself next year) and think I will be looking at either a 997.2 or 991.1 Cabriolet. I know that the wheelbase of the 991 is 100m longer than the 997. Question is does this translate into more legroom in the back? Advice/ information please before I begin serious looking.

I was in a similar position with a £50k budget but ended up buying the 991.1, simply because it got the best car for the money.

TBH, 997.2 prices are now a bit silly as people swallow the "the last of the analogue 911" blah - I suspect it's meaningless for most owners like me, who don't wring it out like they're on the Nordschleife every day and just want the fun of driving and owning a 911.

Having come from some larger wagons, The 991.1 is still a relatively small car, and the rear legroom is not enough for even a short journey.

The answer to this question depends more on how tall the front seat occupants are…that will have a much greater impact than 997.2 or 991.1. I had a 997.2, was effectively a three seater as I am just over 6ft. I’d say I could take both my kids out in it until they were early teenagers. Obviously without SWMBO.

If the person sitting in the front is 6ft you realistically will struggle to get anyone aprt from a young child in the back behind them in any 911 for any period of time.

Yes, 991/992 have slightly more interior and rear accommodation than the 997 (I’ve had both and used the rears).
What with the large centre tunnel in the 991/81 it feels much more cramped and less spacious than the 997 in my opinion.....more airiness in the 997.
