Has anyone bought 'bespoke' luggage for a 911 and is it worth it?

I regularly take two weeks or more in France and am about to buy a 911. The car looks like it will take pretty much any regular soft bags, but I was wondering if a set of measured luggage offers any advantage?

There is something nice about fitted luggage but it really isn’t necessary and depending on what you are doing, restricts flexibility.

For a week in France, we got 2 soft bags in the “Frunk” with odd space around them for shoes, tech bits, food etc.

For the return trip, a bag was put on the folded rear seats so 5 tomato plants could go in the front!

ETA if you do go fitted, the 2 and 4 have different size frunks.

I bought this set from Car-Bags.com

https://www.car-bags.com/en/car-bags-travel-bag-se...

They are nice quality and fit perfectly in the frunk but are they worth it?? I'm on the fence really, you could probably buy better for less if you took the time to look around.

Also bear in mind they're coming from the Netherlands so as well as the 319 Euros (plus shipping, another 19 Euros) you also get stiffed a customs import charge of another £63 which would normally have knocked me off the fence except I was due to travel in a few days. They forget to tell you this until your kit is at the docks and you either pay it to release them or refuse and have the hassle of getting your money back rolleyes.

Soft bags, wife and I do two weeks in France. A week at Le Mans for the 24hr and then a week somewhere in France on holiday.

2 or 3 soft bags in the frunk.

Then 2 soft bags in each rear seat, then another large soft bag across the width of the rear. There is then some room to stuff soft items (coats etc) around in the spaces either end of the large bag and the back of the seat.

Not sure I would buy the dedicated luggage though. Each to their own.

These are the bags we use. 2 in the frunk (just) and two in each rear seat.

Then this large one across the back seat sat on top of the two smaller ones listed above.

The car doesn't arrive for a few days and I've never owned one before, so have no idea. However, it sounds like a a bit of a waste of time... I have loads of soft luggage - which sounds all I need. smile

After the luxury (in terms of luggage practicality!) of a 944, our first weekend away (two adults and one child) in a 997 was a bit of a nightmare luggage-wise, ending up with mishmash of school bags and plastic carrier bags.

After various ”how ****** much?!” moments looking at purpose made luggage, I ended up going to our local t-shirt printing place, and ordering six identical cotton barrel bags from their catalogue. Printed up, numbered 1-6, and all for less than £100. Also fit behind the rear seats.

Not ashamed walking into hotels now . . .

We have 2 Delsey wheelie bags that are soft sides and top and fit cm perfect in the front, also allows a few coats to be laid on top.
We then have 2 bags that sit on the folded down rear seats, which we strap in place with the rear seat belts.
Shoes etc in a bag in the rear footwell , bag with maps / games etc in the other.
Spent 4 weeks away touring last year , worked very well.

Heading off for 7 weeks next month using the same format.

Can I suggest that the OP doesn't buy Delsey?

Their UK support centre is a bloke in a rented unit in a garden centre in Essex; I kid you not.

Their French HQ is useless and arrogant.

We have a set of their luggage and it took them six months to process two suitcases with minor faults on the interior. The cost of returning them was borne by us and we were without the cases for the entire period.

Never buy anything French that you cannot put in your mouth.

To counter this, I have two Delsey bags I’ve had for nigh on 20 years and had no problems with either. I wish they still made the hard case bag I have as it’s ideal as an airplane carry on as well as a good size to fit in various cars.

Bought one of these recently. Width and length it’s basically perfect for the frunk. Takes about half the depth and it’s as big as you’d want for a soft bag. 65l one.
