Rear seat covers or fitted dog bed for a 911 (991.2)
Discussion
Hi all, has anyone found good fitting rear seat covers or a dog bed for a 991.2? I'd like to bring my dog on some road trips but would prefer to avoid destroying the leather if possible. I wonder whether it would be better to put a bed on top of the folded down seats with a little extra support.
If anyone has figured this out I'd appreciate the feedback.

We had a similar issue, albeit for a 991.1.
Our solution was to have a shaped foam support in each of the rear seats and a further small foam extention in front of the folded backrests to increase the depth of the proposed dog bed. With the seat backrests folded, a shaped board was cut to fit on top of the backrests with a fitted foam bed.
We only have 1 photo showing our 35kg dog on the bed. If it is of interest to you I can photo the various parts and the installed bed without the dog. There were no modifications to the car and the bed can be fitted or removed in less than a minute.
We felt it was important to provide support for the folded seats, not to cause any damage

You could try

They made some rear seat covers for my Carrera 911 (992), the covers are very well made and have cut outs for the seatbelts so you can secure the dog harness with the seatbelts if required.
Would highly recommend them.
Best give them a call as they do not appear to show photos of 991 rear covers, I am sure that they do them as I recall seeing them when I was looking for 992 covers a few years back. This was after Covid and they could not get car from Porsche dealers so they used my car as a template.
Based in Hinckley if you are local.

I've just picked up my 992.1 GTS Cab, and would love to implement something similar so my Labrador can join me on a road trip. Would really appreciate any additional details on the construction.

Give me a couple of days to get the car out of the garage, when it is not raining, and I will take some photos of the various foam parts and construction, etc.I've just picked up my 992.1 GTS Cab, and would love to implement something similar so my Labrador can join me on a road trip. Hi Bilbo,
Sorry to hassle but would love to see more about your design...

Sorry for the long delay, unfortunately, life has been getting in the way.
The installation was required to be temporary, with no fixtures and fittings, easily installed and removed, and also protect the original trim.
It consists of 3 foam bases and a topper-trimmed board. The top board has a foam base, (for dog comfort) and a wipe-clean faux leather material, so not to trap dog fur.
The 2 seat base foams are individually shaped and covered in material. The 3rd foam is a single narrow foam to lay on top of the two rear seat base foams and is used to level up and provide additional support to the rear seat backrests after being folded down on top of the foams.

It is wise to be aware of your seat positions and where you may wish to move those positions back for ease of entry and exit etc, before determining the size of your dog bed. The driver's seat in the final photo is in a position for a 1.75m tall driver.
Please also be-aware, the dog will require to be restained, as per the law, for the dogs and everyone's safety.

Just one question, what is the top board made from, is it just foam, or does it have some cardboard to give it more rigidity?
Ridgidty was a concern, as the rear seat passenger is 35kg. The baseboard used, which works well, is 9mm plywood. The overall thickness of the bed, including the nonslip carpeting baseboard underside covering, 9mm plywood board, foam padding, and leatherette top is 45mm tall. Even with my 35kg dog stepping up or down it is very rigid and secure. No fixings are required to prevent it from moving. It is also worthwhile giving consideration to the density of the foam used. We sampled various seating foams before settling on one we believed gave a good combined performance of support/rigidity required and dog comfort. Unfortunately, I do not know any specifications for the foam used.
