Are these covers any good? Do they mark the paint work? (I live in a windy location). Are they easy to wip on and off on your own ? What about if 2 people?

Will they breathe? (Sold as breathable, but not sure what this implies in real use)

Anything else to consider or alternative options?
Thanks

General consensus is never use a car cover outside.

Complete pain in the A. Creates scratches and blemishes in the paint over time.
Ruined my 944 T and that was with a high end fancy superior breathable one.

Best to get a detail and ceramic coating and it'll make the rain run off. Check as you walk past it each day for any bird poo - place a damp microfibre cloth over it, then pour warm water over the cloth - leave for a minute then wipe and should come straight off.

anything to avoid using a car cover would be very wise.

Always use them. In fact I’ve got 2, a tequipment version and a classic additions version. I’ve been using car covers on my cars for years, even when I had a garage. In the absence of a garage, lean to or whatever, they’re a life saver and really do make a difference. The internet says not to bother; it’ll scratch your car, yada yada, but it’s a lot better than having clogged drainage holes and faded headlights. You decide.

true but it will scratch the car - unless you remove all dirt/dush and ensure the cover has no dirt/dust particles on the inner side (the latter, over time, will become impossible to manage)....otherwise one is dragging and stretching a dirty cover over a dirty surface.

I’ve used Classic Additions covers for years with no damage. Car is well polished and waxed and always cleaned and quick detail sprayed as a minimum before putting cover on. Never put on a dirty or dusty car.

My experience is they offer good protection from sun and dirt damage. The cover turns grubby very quickly. Preferable to being left out in the elements.

I am considering an outdoor cocoon though for my new 911.

These are the reasons that most folk avoid covers and instead choose to leave their car to the elements, cats, foxes, pidgeons, rodents, uv rays. Apparently protecting their car from superficial scratches that careless managing of the fitting the cover could cause.

Buy the best cover you can afford. The OEM Porsche cover is very good as is the soft material used by classic additions. Be careful how you put the cover on, take it off and store it. You don’t have to wash the car each time you take the cover on and off, a good polish or ceramic coating will do that for you.

I’ve used covers for 15 years. I’ve never had a buyer walk away from the car due to superficial scratches however caused. I have had rodent ingress parking the car in a garage without a cover and foxes scratching the car because they can while parked outside.

Your money your choice.

I'd recommend Hamilton breathable car covers, really good quality and nice soft material against the bodywork
