Views on Speed Yellow for a 991?
Discussion
What are views on this colour, here? In terms of resale, but also interested in general perceptions. It seems quite divisive. My wife loves it, as do the girls in the office. Male friends hate it. I am somewhere between the two.
The wife element is important of course but equally I don't want to attract the wrong attention, one of the reasons I am looking at a 991 is that it's less conspicuous and doesn't attract adverse attention in urban areas like a Bentley or a Ferrari does.

Not long after I bought my 991 earlier this year, a yellow 991 came onto the market, (I think it was harbour cars) - fairly similar spec and price to mine.
For a brief period, I wished I'd had the chance to buy that one instead, but in hindsight, the colour is much to conspicuous and would I'm sure attract the wrong kind of attention.
The colour of mine is much more subdued and under the radar and in reflection, I'm glad i didn't have the chance to buy it.

There are 11 991's in yellow on AT, most are racing yellow but two are listed as speed. I think speed is a bit too British Telecom yellow if you remember that.
Speed

This one is gorgeous but listed as racing

As others have said, if a 991 suspect it’s racing yellow rather than speed. Personally, I like yellow cars. When I bought a 997, I wanted either red or yellow but yellow cars mega rare. I ended up with guards red, which I love. Yellow 911s are more eye catching / shouty than the more standard silver/blacks that everyone specced them in. So if that’s a concern, don’t get yellow. But at the end of the day, it’s a 911. People are never going to treat it like a Lambo.
Resale wise, I think that fewer people like yellow but those who do like it *really* like it. So it all depends on who is looking when you are trying to sell.

Racing Yellow was the launch colour of the 981 GT4 back in 2015 and Speed Yellow was a standard colour in the 993 / 996 era ?
I had a Speed Yellow 996.2 GT3 which was lovely ... but in general it doesn't seem to be a particularly popular colour even though I like it. There was a conversation running recently on the only? Speed Yellow Cayman R ....

Speed Yellow is very 996/986. Racing Yellow is now the 'cooking' yellow, from 991/981 onwards IIRC.
I like yellow because I like bright colours, and yellow is a bit unusual. If you don't like your car to stand out (why wouldn't you want it to stand out?), go for something else.
Maybe there are fewer buyers for yellow cars, but there are fewer yellow cars for sale, so the 'resale risk' should be little different, especially if the spec is decent.

I’ve never seen a Speed Yellow 991.
I have a Racing Yellow T. I love it. But I use the car for weekends / fun / holidays. I wouldn’t want to turn up at many clients businesses in it.
For some reason, SY and Miami Blue seem to suit the "T", well, to a T.I have a Racing Yellow T. I love it. But I use the car for weekends / fun / holidays. I wouldn’t want to turn up at many clients businesses in it.

Thanks Digga.
This is the only photo I have of my pal’s former Speed Yellow 997. Personally I think it’s the better colour but possibly not best shown in this pic.
I always thought it was a shame there were so few yellow 997 GT3s, but I guess that was perhaps just a reaction to how popular (deservedly so) it was on the 996 .1 & .2 GT3.This is the only photo I have of my pal’s former Speed Yellow 997. Especially considering it was one of only four free colours.https://www.stuttcars.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/...
Didn't Steve Rance have one? I guess after the financial crash it's only natural for loud colours to go out of fashion for a bit-you'd have expected something similar now but I reckon the insta crowd are keeping loud colours popular. Not much clout in a Basalt Black these days!
