I’ve been looking for a while and found a really nice one in Carmine Red. I get to pick it up at the dealer next week. I have a choice on how it’s prepared. There is the normal preparation they are doing on the car but they also offer a machine polish/ceramic coat finish, not sure of the cost yet. My question is whether it’s worth it for a car that’s not a daily driver but for Sundays and high days. I’ve never had it done before but I’ve never bought a 911 before either!

The idea of having a ceramic coating applied is a good one but the key to a good job is the paintwork being properly prepared beforehand with a paint correction to deal with any existing paintwork marks/light scratches etc. Ceramic coatings that are properly applied make the cars easier to keep clean/wash but a good installation isn't cheap and should include treating the alloy wheels.

If you want a ceramic coating I'd also check what a reputable local detailer would charge as a comparison (I'm not saying whoever you are buying from can't do a decent job but it is worth a call to get an idea elsewhere). If the cost sounds really cheap it's likely not to be a good job.

+1 to everything MrC986 has stated. I too would definitely recommend, and with a proper paint correction preparation.

Whereabouts in the South West are you located? I can recommend independents in Glos who do work for OPCs.

Just bought a 992 4S convertible.
Ceramic coating was offered at 850 Pounds by the dealer
A local body shop does the same for 500 pounds
I had this done before on other cars and I think it is worth the cash. Easier to wash, looks great and shiny making the car look "younger"

Bought a C2S cab in October 2023 for Porsche Swindon. I had the ceramic coating and paint correction done for about the £800 mark. I had ceramic coating on my previous 2 cars and recommend it. It does preserve the paint in the long term. I also suggest you get a coating for the roof done as part of the ceramic coating. That will preserve the roof over time but you need to clean and recoat at least once to twice a year. You can do it yourself using products such as Autoglym
