Ive just cashed in some lifetime savings so looking at a new 992 911

Ive been offered a new 992 Coupe4S + options spec'd @ £149k in configurator, offered at 'sale' price £123k v low mileage(500miles!) ex demo.

My issue is i really like the GTS racetex seats, so believe it or not i am somewhat put off this 4S deal. Im pondering do i buy this one and sit on it until i see the right 2nd hand GTS(hoping i can buy the similar spec 22 plates GTS for around this money) or am i going to be spanked on a trade-in despite me getting it for 26k under list even if its only done another 1000miles in the meantime.

With the BOE holding interest rates up do we foresee new 911 prices dipping even more Q1 2024?

Wait until you find the car you really want. There are loads of GTS available so you shouldn’t have to wait long.

How will that affect the prices early Jan/Feb?

The only issue i have found is the car ive been offered has Rear Axle steer is a must for me and drives up the price considerably if i look for the currently cheapest i see then is 129k for a similar spec GTS 2nd hand.

I'd wait for the right car, any trade in is always at least £10k price spread.

Btw, well done on posting about a 911 at 9:11 smile

I would wait for the car you want, you will lose on trading the other one back in ! Have you driven both models as the suspension is harder on the GTS and a few people on here have not liked it . But good look with whatever 911 you buy, they are great cars !

If I understand the original post, you have been offered a car at £20k off, ticks every box except for the material in the seats?

I mean, second hand seats are under £2k or a trimmer will fix them up to a bespoke standard for similar. Have I misunderstood?

Is this really going to happen, given the cumulative magnitude of previous price increase and the current market driven discounts ?

Or could it be a case of Porsche saying "buy them now whilst they are less expensive than they will be in April" ?

In short yes you are going to lose money - if I understand this correctly - if you buy the “not quite right GTS 4” and sell it when you find an “ideal spec” GTS. The less costly option is to wait and buy the “ideal spec” but that depends on how prescriptive you are on spec.

One thing you can be sure of is that you will lose money (including depreciation) on all option buy-trade in-buy ideal or just buy ideal, but you will more likely lose money on the former.

I’m 3 weeks into ownership of my GTS and I wanted my own specific colour / spec combo which is way I didn’t buy 2nd hand. But I keep my cars for hopefully a long time so getting the ideal spec is important to me. Although it’s the costlier option.

Good luck with your search. Awesome cars!

What about this?

Brand new GTS. Rear steer. GTS interior. Nice colour.

May even haggle a bit off the price as it’s in stock.

I thought so too. At least compared to other used models.

Depending on how you are as a driver or person, GTS is quite a different car to C4S. They are not interchangeable. GTS rewards a committed, focussed driver while maybe being less easy for someone who wants to switch off a bit. C4S is more of an all rounder but less sharp or "sporty" as they used to say. The differences are reasonably subtle but they are still very real.

RWS is a bit Marmite...I prefer without, many people prefer with. But I do think you are either a GTS person or a C4S person at any one stage as a daily driver. It's not like a GTS is just a CS with "more", it has a different character, as you would hope.

Unless money isn't of concern (if it wasn't I doubt you'd have asked) then don't do what you are proposing. Just wait and buy the right car for you in the first instance. Enjoy the search, and don't be worried about throwing in some cheeky offers...

This is definitely the market to hang on in until you see what you exactly want. Then negotiate hard but don’t walk away if it’s a couple of grand more than you want to pay. If it’s going to be a keeper just get it and enjoy (and repeat)

Having owned a 4 GTS with -10mm suspension and Targa GTS which come with standard PASM i have to say i would never option the -10mm it became way too firm for my liking and it was the straw that broke the camels back so off it went in replace of the Targa GTS which was delightful and is a joy to drive with the standard setup

My personal OP would be to wait for the right spec car, get the deal you want & enjoy.

I did also struggle with the Racetex interior, due to it becoming quite grubby, optioned Leather in my Targa and would always in the future as well
