I just got a quote fropm my local indy (a Porsche specialist) to replace the standard injectors in my 2002 996 turbo with uprated 750cc bosch ones (supplied by me) for £1,700 + VAT labour only and they want to drop the engine and need the car for a week.

I understand it's possible (although not easy) to replace the injectors without dropping the engine in about a day, so was expecting a quote for a fraction of the cost.

Am I way out on my expectations here? Is it really 15-20 hours of labour to replace them and if not, can anyone recommend a garage that will do it properly in less time, preferably in the South East.

Thanks!

Does that include slight map tweak, as presume they will need to change the injector opening time if different to stock?

Then will need road test/rolling road check to make sure fuelling OK through the rev/load range, I would suspect.

Nope, just labour to fit them.

Then that does sound pricey.

Have you tried getting a quotes from 9 Excellence, Parr, Paragon?

Sounds about right, even after dropping the engine out there’s quite a bit of stripping to remove the inlet manifolds. There’s some alloy that you need to remove as the end of the standard injectors are not round
