997.1 PCM Upgrade
Discussion

I’m picking up my new to me 997.1 next Friday!
The PCM unit is toast, so I’m getting Precision Porsche to swap it out….question is what unit? Only requirement is wireless connectivity for Apple Car play. The car has the Bose upgrade.
What do people recommend / or what do you have?

I have a good condition PCM 2 with frunk OEM CD changer and correct carpet set for frunk. Not sure if you can get it to work with Apple Car Play?
A few have gone for this and swear by it.

The silver doesn’t match the Porsche silver and looks dreadful in my opinion once in situ. https://dynavindirect.co.uk/select-your-car/7-inch...

£800? Why not just pay an extra £400 and get the proper replacement from Porsche?https://dynavindirect.co.uk/select-your-car/7-inch...

I paid £1179 for mine from my local OPC with PCGB discount a few months ago. Admittedly the OPC then wanted around another £600 to fit it but I did it myself using the online guides. Is the price you quote above inc fitting? Surely prices haven’t gone up that much over the last few months? One other point to explore is the discount you get from being part of the classic register. Costs nothing to join and offers:
“Not less than a 15% discount on the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of Porsche Classic Genuine Parts purchased for the registered vehicle from our Porsche Centre”
I bought the pccm+ for my 997.1 and had it fitted by Strasse in Leeds this summer . Has been fine since.
The Porsche sat nav is a bit clunky and sometimes loses satellite for a bit in sticks but mirroring my phone is great and the best bit is all the cars functions work through the small tacho screen, steering wheel controls and the trip computer/ sport chrono.
voice control through SIRI means i can control all functions like phone and sat nav with hands on the wheel.
