At my last service I was advised by my indie I had both sides blowing slightly at pipe joint to silencer and would require removal to be welded, to be honest it doesn’t sound bad at all but don’t suppose it’s going to get any better.
Question is what is the cost likely to be to remove and repair an 18 year old system versus just replacing the silencers ?
What are my options based on other owners experiences ?
Car is only used for approx 2k miles a year max so looking for most long term cost effective solution whilst appreciating this may actually cost a bit more than a repair .
Not after loud performance type but don’t want to lose any performance either .
Any recommendations ?

Shame, I have been very pleased with the centre box delete using a millet cross pipe, an increase in response and it did seem more powerful after time for the ECU to adjust and sounds great, zero boom, very classic flat 6

Is the car a gen 1 or gen 2 and is it a 3.6 or 3.8?

I have a set of G1 3.6 silencers for sale, which will be cheap as chips at circa £70 plus delivery. They're for a gen 1 3.6.

If you can't remove them then you're going to be paying the same for your garage to remove to weld or replace them?
I'd go for the weld up option, you do low miles per year and you're not looking to change the sound.

Ask the garage to put stainless nuts/bolts back in when they strip the exhaust and it should come apart easily in the future.

Any experience of Design Tek anyone ?
Seem reasonably priced and probably only ! £4-500 more than repairing the old silencers that could still fail elsewhere soon after resulting in more labour costs .

Wow, seems like a great call, site bookmarked for when / if my exhaust starts having any issues.

Have you used him before, or know anyone that has?

I've not used him, I was booked in and had to cancel due to more urgent works then sold the car. Google Matt Watson 996 gundo, It's this guy. I follow him on Insta and he does various hacks on a lot of cars not just Porsches.

He'll can sort all the issues on your exhaust like fixing the expensive support brackets.
