My 997 front lights have bonkers - any ideas?

My 997 (2006 S) is throwing up warnings on the dash to "check front side light" and "check front right indicator". Then when using the indicator the turn signal on the dash flashes really fast like in the old days when a bulb had blown. But, from the outside all the lights work fine!?! For god measure I changed all 3 bulbs in the right cluster. Made no difference. It's been doing this on and off for a while but now it's every time I drive it and worse, now it's started doing the same for the left side!

I've googled this and I've found others with then same issue but no explanation as to how to cure it or what the issue is. The lights are the standard fittings (non-led).

Any ideas?

I would look at the earths for the lights and battery, make sure these aren't degraded.
