Hello,
997.3.8S.
Battery is flat.
Tried the driver's footwell fuse box trick, of connecting a regular battery charger and waiting, but nothing...

Question 1 - with power, (a battery charger) connected to the fuse box, can you use the switch in the drivers door sill or does it need to be via the key?
Key remote unlocking wasn't working prior to this so needs to be recoded....

Beyond this, I've managed to get into the engine bay, using the emergency cord.

Hence question #2.
Is there a positive terminal in the engine bay, which could be used to connect a Ctek and bring the battery back to meaningful life?

Can't get to the emergency pull cord for the frunk, in the wheel arch liner, as the locking wheel nut is in the frunk....

D'oh.

Mmm. Tricky one.

Could you use a trickle charger via the cigarette lighter and leave it going for 12 hours then try again.
CTEK etc.

It is a jump pack not a charger you need to be connected to the fuse box I think. That’s what I had to do to open the front of my 991. You can then connect a charger direct to the battery.

I’ve ordered a CTek cigarette lighter adapter, so it should appear in a day or two…. I’ll report back.

That's what worked for me too. You need the instant power from the jump pack to be able to open the bonnet. Then you use the jump pack, or jump leads and another car, connected to the battery to get the 911 started.

There are no terminals in the engine bay as far as I'm aware.

Kinda been said but if your battery is completely toast you need a jump pack as CTEK won’t give you enough juice to operate the frunk lock, wherever you connect it

Thank you for the replies.
No joy with the cigarette lighter, as suspected, it is probably ok for a trickle charge of a reasonably healthy battery, rather than an ex-battery.

Plan C is in operation.. i'll keep you posted!

does nothing work? I mean is all power zero?

maybe someone or yourself switched a battery switch somewhere in or around the car, such what track cars or long park cars sometimes use to save the battery from draining?

or... the alarm system cutted the power? no idea, just thinking out loud.

Not a sausage. I’d left a USB charging adapter in the cigarette lighter, with a little red LED on it, for about 5 weeks….. so quite dead.

hah, yeah, that does the work and to empty often means = dead, so even a deep reload (on some trickle chargers possible) will not help when its to far empty/dead.

so I'm afraid you need a new battery and find indeed a way to get power on some parts via via I guess.

Good luck with plan C. if that doesn't work I think this is what you need to get some juice to open the bonnet:

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/battery-maintena...

Above is the 'up to 2 litres' version, about £60. But if you only pop the bonnet and then replace the battery it's all you need.

Talk about inflation. I'm sure the 3L version only cost me £60 a few years ago and now it's £90.

Thanks for all the replies. I now have a lithium jump pack, but with this/jump leads/new batteries in keys, no joy, so I give up!

Wheels are straight, so it should winch into the trailer and I’m handing it over to my Porsche Tech in Cov, as he is less likely to whack it with a large hammer!

Will do, but it is 99% certainty, a battery killed by my own incompetence….

just bad luck I also had that almost a few years ago, also in a car were the sigaret plug-in connect stays active, even when the key is out, and left a warning/alert system plugged in, wanted to step out my garage and thought, hm did I disconnect it? so went back and spotted it on time, I use my car very little, so a week or 2 not using it is pretty normal, so thats to long if you missed it.

after that almost I got more alert, but still have to look twice so to speak biggrin
