I'm about to put a new battery in my car.

Is it necessary to maintain a live supply while the battery is disconnected, and if so is it OK to do that using a battery charger rather than connect to an auxiliary battery, or can it be swopped without keeping a supply connection?

If you have a ‘smart’ battery charger then it won’t maintain the 12v supply as it needs to detect a battery in order to provide an output.

I changed the battery in my 991.1 Turbo last year. I used a C-Tek charger plugged into the cigarette lighter to hold up the 12V circuit and it worked just fine. Get someone to help you and have a long piece of wood to hand to lift the old battery out and put the new one in - they are heavy as and and incredibly difficult place to reach if you’re on your own
I actually watched YouTube video on how to do it beforehand and it really is pretty easy.
