Folks,
I put an order in last December 22 with my local Porsche dealer for a new turbo s after being told it would be a two year wait minimum and would almost definitely be a Gen 2 992 car. I already have a 2 year old 992.1 turbo s.
Today I was asked to lock in my final order and my car will be ready by June so obviously won’t be a Gen 2 car as that’s not even been announced yet.
Currently weighing up if I should accept the order or wait as I have hammered the mileage on my current car and it’s not a great spec whereas new one would be mega spec.
When do you think we could start to expect to see a 992.2 gen turbo s?

Assuming it's released as a 2025 model year, earliest I'd expect to see one would be Q3, 2024. It could well be later than that as historically the Turbo has been released well after the Carrera. I would guess your allocation for a 992.1 could be a cancelled order - at least it will still be MY23 pricing.
I’m in exactly the same boat, will be having a chat with my dealer tomorrow to confirm the .2 release date.
Expecting Q1 or Q2 2024 for the TurboS.
Btw funny how there’s a huge release of Turbo S build slots for June, wondering if there’s been a slow down in orders for all models recently, as I was definitely told 2024 for delivery.

I spoke to my OPC about a Turbo S a few weeks ago, basically he suggested about 7 months from deposit to delivery which is about the same as the OP. He also said there was a ton of interest in the 992.2 which perhaps is why .1 cars are reasonably easy to get.
Back to the OP's original question, my suggestion is to take the new Turbo S in a decent but not excessive spec, with an agreement that you'll get one of the early .2 cars. If you spec the car cleverly the potential cost of ownership is perhaps not too bad especially if your price is locked in pre 2023 price rises. If your own car already has significant mileage and perhaps not an ideal spec then the additional depreciation/tyres/service over the next 12-24 months waiting for the .2 car could be quite high, possibly very high.

I’d definitely try and use ordering a car for delivery this summer as a way of Suru ring a .2 It is probably not a suprise to any of us that wait times for build slots are suddenly becoming much shorter.
Early .2 cars will no doubt be in huge demand. Getting an early Turbo S is a tried and tested part of the strategy that a lot of customers have for getting a GT car….big money car that is then sold back to the OPC a few months later for minimal (if any) depreciation. Everyone is a winner…..

We have been quoted a June delivery now too??
Cash down around February time when we bought the Gt3 2022.
Invited in to spec the car and lock the spec in around Feb 2023.
Car was supposed to be May 2023 but has now moved to June 2023.
Have they got a job lot of parts that need using up in June or something?

What OPC's are these car coming from, I placed an order for Turbo S cab last November, but haven't been told anything different from my 2024 expected delivery date. I ordered from Colchester.
Have you put a deposit down and / or locked the final spec in? Ours was about a year after we put a deposit down when we were invited in to go through the final spec and get a order placed on the Porsche system.
Quoted around May for delivery but now pushed back until June time, anything could happen I suppose.
We have bought a few cars from Bolton so used them again for the Turbo S.

Ok , You won't really know when you will get the car if you haven't locked the spec in yet. You'll just have to wait for the phonecall
Even when you've locked in anything could happen. A friend was waiting for his GT4 rs and his app kept telling him 2 weeks until delivery for about 3 months
