  • ***Spoiler alert to save you reading the whole thread: after lots of testing we found the Britax Kidfix iSize is perfect!****
Does anyone know of an iSize child seat that fits in the rear seats of a 911 (996 convertible) with a 3 point seatbelt? 2001 model. It’s for a 4yr old (so group 2-3 seats for 15-36kg as it used to be known on r44 legislation ).

I’ve seen the Britax Evolva 123 suggested for the 997 on a very old post but it’s not iSize. Neither is the Halfords 123.

Looking for something with a good ADAC rating (or even better but very unlikely, plus tested!).

Two potential options could be the Besafe iZi Flex Fix i-Size or the Britax Kidfix iSize but would like to know they fit before ordering if poss!

If you have pics of something that fits that would be even better!

Thanks

Halfords booster seats worked in my 996.

They're £18 new at Halfords

Or second hand

I've got the Porsche kids booster seat complete with back somewhere either here or at work.

Used it in the 997 and 991 cab

You are welcome to it if you want.

thank you - that’s definitely not iSize though unfortunately. My little boy isn’t big enough for those kind of backless boosters either. Thanks for taking the time to respond though

That is a very interesting question.... as I'm going to need to find it first.

It's the grey two piece car seat, with a back with sides that allows younger kids to use it first. Once they get to a certain height, you then remove the back. This unfortunately means the back will be stored somewhere different to the base! I remember taping the back into a sack to protect it, but what I did with it then is anyones guess at the moment. (The one thing I'm pretty certain about, is I didn't bin it!)

I will have a look at the weekend, and let you know how I get on

You won't get a Plus tested booster or multistage seat as the Plus test is for rear facing seats.
ADAC test score are on their website. I'd focus on that plus the fit and ignore whether it's R44 or R129.

Thanks - I definitely don’t want to put him in an R44 tested seat and so need an iSize one because of the side impact testing. I thought the plus tested ones might be ambitious - tried my Axkid in the back and it takes up pretty much the whole cabin! My backup is that I just won’t take him in the Porsche at all, but ideally I’d be able to find an iSize one that fits. Wish we lived closer to InCar Safety Centre or somewhere like that. There’s plenty of seats with a good ADAC rating, I just need to find one that fits and I can’t find any recent posts/pictures of any unfortunately

Don't be misled by the R129. I also have Axkid Minikid and Britax Maxway seats. They are Plus tested so a higher standard than R129. They are still R44 approved seats.

I had to shoot home earlier - and I've found the important bit. Still need to find the back bit for you, but here's a picture of the seat part.

I bought it with a 997 from Porsche Sheffield back in 2010, and both kids used it up until three or four years ago.

I'm based in Kent though, not Sheffield

Thanks! Annoyingly it doesn’t look like it fits the 996 (2001 model) which is very frustrating!

Thanks, I’m not misled by them but I’d never put my kid in an R44 car seat if that was the only thing it had passed because of the speeds they’re tested at and the lack of side impact testing. Plus tested is defo better then the R129 though like you say. My Axkid doesn’t fit in so need to try and find an alternative as I don’t think any ERF ones will fit in the back.

Thanks so much for taking the time to dig it out (and hoover it!). I don’t think it will be iSize if it’s a few years old (unless it says otherwise on it - is the sticker on there by any chance which says the legislation and the expiry date??). There’s so many people looking for ones that fit the rear seats, they’re like gold dust I think!

My experience comes from a 997, not a 996.

I bought the Britax Evola 123 due to it being mentioned here on PH. It does not fit! Not in a way I consider practical or safe at least.
Due to an other suggestion, this time from german Porsche forum PFF, I bough this:

A Recaro Tian Elite. It is a 99% fit in a 997, best I have tried myself or researched.

You can read about it in my readers car thread.

Oh great thank you! Will have a look. Is it iSize? Could be the answer to our prayers if so!

So - I found a seat that is iSize, had a really good ADAC rating and fits perfectly in the back seats! It’s the Britax Romer Kidfix iSize RRP £219 but paid £159. https://www.britax-romer.co.uk/car-seats/highback-...

Will upload pics but good to know that there is a seat that fits and is safe.

Didn’t need to remove the back or seat pads for it to fit, but have done to make it a bit roomier back there.

We went and tried a load out - the BeSafe iZi Flex Fix fits width wise but doesn’t feel properly secure at the back - the Britax sits much flusher to the back.

Car is 911 (996 type), convertible, 2001 model. My little boy is almost 4, and pretty tall for his age.

We had it properly checked and fitted about an hour away from us at WH Watts in Stockton on Tees, so if anyone else is in the north of England and can’t get to an InCar Safety Centre then would really recommend these guys.

My little one is pretty buzzing he can come out in the car now. Will try and get some pics later in case they help anyone else get an idea of fit and room etc.

Thanks to everyone for their help!
