Cool little video about the KW V5 + HLS kit for Carrera GT.
I know some of the guys of this parish have the kit fitted.

When I grow up….

Mate, buy one by all means possible, but don’t ever grow up. It’s a trap!

It is a great kit. Just a shame that it is so expensive

Price has increased from £15k to £22k last year. Luckily mine was 'only' £15k.

I've done nearly 10k miles with the KW set up. It's gives a significant handling improvement over OEM, the spring rates are lower which gives softer ride and you get more grip. The rear end especially is notably improved, you lose the 'porpoising' feeling on fast undulating roads and if gives you a lot more confidence in the rear end to press on. It get's rid of some of the heart in the throat moments if you were moving at a fair clip over challenging tarmac. I've only run on the settings Manthey sugggest for bump and rebound but will have a play on track next year.

And with axle lift you have no more access issues with grounding and can park in multi storey car parks :

There’s quite a bit to the kit and the engineering and integration development alone will have been significant. There’s a very small market to recoup those overheads.

Sure, plus compound Porsche tax and CGT tax too.

Good value IMO, for such a significant dynamic and usability up tick, some folks pay this for a fancy 'zorst on them!

I have to agree… i don’t think it’s ‘too’ bad. 15k is obviously better than 22k. But as a proportion of the car and for the improvement in ride and added functionality. Also… if your OE Sachs dampers needed refreshing/replacing… how much would that be?

And Porsche have put an embargo on Sachs repairing them so it's new for old now. OEM are around £3k each + fitting.

Consistent with his driving isn't it? - always a little bit 'wonky'

That's what comes with having to power slide into every parking spots. Mere mortals such as myself have to suffer the indignation of selecting Reverse gear for parking.

Still can’t believe I didn’t buy one when they were semi-affordable
Idiot
The one car I always wanted - would happily have just one of these and my Clio for when it snows

I'd happily sell my house and live in a wooden hut to be able to afford one. Sadly CGT prices have risen way beyond the value of my house. I have been fortunate to have had passenger laps in two CGTs around Silverstone. Simply the most exciting and desirable car I've ever been in !

Yes I bought an apartment to live in instead of one when they were c 300-350k euros. Ah well, should have taken out a loan to buy one at the time and seriously considered it … thought I will just get one when I can buy it for cash. Didn’t anticipate the price development of cars. Thought about it again at 550k, but now so far beyond my reach that it is going the way of a 250 SWB in terms of realistic proposition.
I am really happy there are people around who use them as intended, as that is what I would have done - mine would be on 100k plus mileage by now had I bought in 2015
You never know, maybe one day I will be able to buy one

That development and integration work was done years as in literally years ago though. Flemke here I believe was the car that Manthey used for setting up the KWs in the late 2000s and it seems unlikely he didn't pick up a decent chunk of those initial overheads..

But anyway the cost is what it is and even leaving aside the replacement cost of OE sachs, for a better system it's hardly a surprise that good dampers cost a fair bit. Depending on timing you may get the chance at the Eifel in may to decide what you think of the KWs I suspect....

A few of us that use them. I did a couple of EU trips, plus UK drives and track days. Luckily I bought when the prices were at their lowest, so even when you have a pricey year (KW suspension, clutch, release module +++ other bits and a 4 year service and a bit of cosmetic titivation at Reading = c£50k) you can discount that to some extent with a decent slab of mileage (just under 10000).

I'm not precious about it in terms of roads/parking etc. it's too exhilarating to not use. In my mind it's worth what I paid, not the 4x multiple it maybe worth. They are without doubt one of the most amazing cars on the planet, I had a fantastic 3200 mile road trip in October, chasing a friend for hours in a 991 GT2 RS on empty billiard smooth Spanish roads was one of the best trips I've done. The car as always ran faultlessly a litre of oil, copious fuel stops and that was it. It's a major come down after those sort of gigs howeverrotate
