991.1 GTS Alarm Fault
Discussion
Evening all.
991.1 GTS, 2015, owned for only a few months and still under extended warranty. I generally leave the car on a trickle charger when not using, and last night the alarm randomly went off and kept activating very shortly after the car locked. I took the car off charge and closed the frunk, then locked with a double tap to deactivate the interior motion sensor.
Sadly, no joy and alarm started about 30 minutes later.
Two potential snags I can see;
First, the battery may be weak, exacerbated by the very cold weather (garage not heated….I know, I’m a pauper) and the charger is taking the voltage outside of the range and confusing everything.
Second, and more likely, the siren module itself needs replacing (I’ve read this on the 911 forum).
Question, has anyone had the same issue and if so what was the fix/cost/is it under warranty (siren, not battery)?
I’ve disconnected the battery for the sanity of all - any top tips for recommissioning when I reconnect? I’ve read the manual so just after some golden nuggets from experienced operators.
Makes a change from the normal ‘allocation/prices crashing/going up/my GT spec is better than yours’ threads!

If you have a CTEK or equivalent and it is showing green light on trickle then all should be well with the battery.
I assume when you disconnected the battery that the you found the clamps were properly tightened - a loose connection can cause this (did in mine).
If everything shut properly then the siren would be next on my list.
One for the dealer under warranty.

Thanks, appreciate it. It’s booked into the OPC in the new year. I assume when you disconnected the battery that the you found the clamps were properly tightened - a loose connection can cause this (did in mine).

I had an 992 C2S which exhibited exactly the same fault as yours after a few months, turned out to be a faulty alarm module which was replaced. (I’m presuming the alarm module/siren is pretty similar from 991.2 to 992….)991.1 GTS, 2015, owned for only a few months and still under extended warranty. But what is it with Porsche car alarms, I’ve got a 996 which if left outside for a couple of weeks, and the battery level drops below a certain threshold, off goes the alarm…I would leave it on a trickle charger, but it’s nowhere near a plug, and I just forget….
