Exhaust upgrade for 992
Discussion
I have a 992 GTS and have an itch to upgrade the exhaust. I’ve never been in to modifying cars so have no idea of the pros and cons. I love my car, just feel it could sound a bit better and so am thinking the Akrapovic slip on. I don’t want anything ridiculous and don’t want to annoy the neighbours, just want it to sound a bit more how I think a 992 GTS should sound.
I’m interested to hear from anyone who has made this upgrade already and your thoughts. Also any recommendations where I could get it done in the south east.
I have reached out to the main dealer to check on the implications to my warranty (if any).
Many thanks.

so similar exhaust from JCR for a GTS? or just centre replacement?

Go for a Europipe on a model with turbos to avoid drone. We have not had any issue with warranty claim over 5 years. Installed week one on a new 991.2 turbo s. She is still under warranty and circa £15k of claims inc a faulty turbo. Turbo s in next week to sort a few niggles under warranty again

Would love to find an exhaust upgrade that sounds good but still remains legal. Everything I've seen and heard so far that sounds good involved removing the particular filters which makes me think there's no real viable options for the 992. I'm going off videos where they do a before and after of the sound with stock sports exhaust and the upgrade. Perhaps in person it's more noticeable? Certainly doesn't sound that different in video at least.
I’m not sure about the 992, but certainly the Akrapovic is good on the 991.2. Effectively there are 3 modes:
1. Valves shut. (Good in the morning to avoid waking up the kids).
2. Valves open, but not in sports mode. Excellent, my compliments to Akrapovic).
3. Valves open and in sports mode. Ridiculous pops, burbles and bangs. I hate it this way and just select sports chassis seperately. It’s the still the same with the OEM sports exhaust to be fair, but just a bit quieter. Thankfully not as bad as the newer BMW M3/4s, which are just embarrassing in my opinion.
