They ^ were merely pretenders. The ultimate will be the No Man’s Land Edition:

Strangely it has not caught on in the rest of VAG-imagine VW special editions like the Adolf Beetle.

To be fair, an Adolf Porsche would probably be more apt given Ferdinand Porsche was personal friends with old Adolf, was the latter's favourite auto engineer and of course engineered the Beetle for the great man.

These days the connection tends to be minimised to an incidental commercial coincidence, of course, and Porsche is nothing if not practiced and polished at playing up the more salubrious aspects of company 'heritage'. The reality is rather more uncomfortable than that.

Not that I personally care about the shady origins. But it cuts both ways. Not that bothered about the 'heritage' either. If you are going to fawn over the heritage, prob behoves one to recognise the less appealing aspects!

At first glance, I thought it was a 996. Looks worse than the standard car to me.

Looking at the photos again, I think it is actually illuminated. Although there is no reference to it in the article…

I absolutely love the Sally Special from a distance. If money was no object I'd want to buy it and put big mileage on it. As a 1/1 car my gut feeling is that won't happen.

Love it!

We named our Cobalt Blue 997 "Sally" (much less pretentious than saying "the 911" or the "Porsche" every time) ten years ago, so its nice to see this come out.

That is great. I watched CARS many times as it was the film my daughter liked to watch to go to sleep to when she was pre school....

Just need the 'sexy beast' Ian MCshane ,Teddy bass 964 recreated now. What a film that is.

Yes this one is very special. If I remember rightly it can repair its own damage. One scene smashed up next scene damage gone.
