The C2S 996 is a fine looking car. I’d not buy one at that price - £20-30k possibly.

To me these cars are just another of the not so special specials Porsche have rowed out over the years! At that price point if I wanted 4wd much prefer a 997.2 4s!
Depends on your taste / landscape and needs - not everyone is after a GT3 or RS nor can we afford, or want to subscribe to the over inflated prices.Everything has a place and its an 18yr old vehicle.

I don't think it was ever a 'special', it was a standard model in the lineup. Pretty special arse on it though
To add if you want the fake 996 turbo look you can get a decent proper 996 turbo with change or perhaps a nice manual 997.1/1.5 for that money!
I will add though in the 996c4s defence they do sound nice! But to me they remain in the 996 c2/4 price range

They’re better looking than the turbo with the Halfords holes in the rear wings I will add though in the 996c4s defence they do sound nice! But to me they remain in the 996 c2/4 price range

Many people prefer a NA motor too.

Though the standard C2 .2 drives a fair bit better. But then you could say the same of 993 C2 versus the widebody cars.
Many people prefer a NA motor too.
So, it's obviously looks based, which has got to be fair enough. After all, 90% of the air cooled premium is the classic looks. People go on about the drive etc, but if you offered them a 996.1 that somehow drove just like an air cooled, would they be interested? Nope!
But an air-cooled that drove more a 996...? They call those restomods and people pay £500k for them.

It would be, if it existed I’d not buy one at that price - £20-30k possibly.

Are they really beyond 30k now jeez that’s getting in a bit. At that level a tiptronic 996 Turbo would be a better buy.
The 996 market is a strange place at the moment. There used to be quite a price spread between a 996.1 and a C4S. The gaps have all narrowed and now it's not unusual to see a 996.1 for more than some .2 cars and something like a manual .1 coupe with aero in red or yellow will often fetch more than a C4S.

I may be in a minority, but I don't fully get the love for the 996 C4S. It has no more power than a C2 / C4, just a wider body. It doesn't feel as agile as the standard 'narrow body' car. It's slower than a regular 996 3.6 too. I prefer the way the standard C2 drives. I'd just not be willing to pay more for what feels to me like a car that's been built for looks, rather than to be a better drive.I will add though in the 996c4s defence they do sound nice! But to me they remain in the 996 c2/4 price range
