Forgive me if this question has been asked before.

How is the cup 2 tire effectiveness during its lifespan if mainly used for Trackday’s in dry conditions?
Wondering if it’s still very effective after I.e 50% wear or close to worn out as it’s treads are closer to a slick tire?

Can I add a question about effectiveness after heat cycles too?

My impression is that my Cup 2s with a decent amount of tread (save for the front nearside shoulder) are much less grippy after about 500/600 miles of track driving.

My Cup 2s still have decent tread on them after quite a few track days but they are certainly past their best now and don't get as sticky when hot, probably due to the amount of heat cycles. They are starting to squeal a lot now as well where as before they were silent.

Cup 2 tyres are sensitive to the number of heat cycles and just as important the age of the tyre. In my experience any Cup2 that is say 3 years old or older will have a significantly different, ie worse, performance than a new one. In terms of heat cycles each one of these does degrade the effectiveness of the tyre right from the first one. They can fall off a cliff after a good few cycles however they are usually worn out by then anyway. Just recently I used a set of 2018 tyres that had only done a couple of heat cycles and then sat in the garage for 3 years or so. They were dreadful, taking forever to warm up and get to the normal grip level and then not offering as much grip and adjustability as normal. Instantly fixed with a new set. Given the relatively low cost of tyres in the grand scheme of things just use the best you can find.
