We've only had this 991.2 gt3 since February and already the inside of the same wheel has been ruined by stones getting wedged between the pccb caliper and the wheel barrel, not once but twice!. It looks like I've had the wheel on a lathe and cut a lovely groove all the way round.ragemad

My wife does use It as her daily drive but didn't expect this to happen so soon and not once but twice! I've looked about and it seems that it mostly happens on the pccb equipped cars due to the caliper being so close. I guess that's why it never happend on our old 991.2 c4gts with the steel brake set up.
Looks like we'll be buying a new wheel in the future unless it can be repaired?banghead

Your wife uses the GT3 as her daily?!

There must be a pistonhead bravery award for this type of thing!

If my wife used my GT3 ad her daily, it would be trashed within a month, both inside and out smile

Similar problems with BMW ///M cars fitted with CCB's.

Unfortunate but at least your ceramic rota appears undamaged otherwise you would be looking at c £10k to replace both sides.

Agree on the bravery award btw.

Few years back my wife used my M3 to nip to the shops and mashed both nearside wheels whilst parking.

Now ex wife lol.

Had the same issue on my last Turbo. Very annoying! There's bugger all clearance between the caliper and wheel.
It'll probably polish out to some degree and be less noticeable.....but you'll always know it's there 😀

It's annoying obviously, but also extremely common and considered pretty much normal.

The damage to the wheel will only be cosmetic. A refurb will sort it out, but then it'll only happen again at some point, so it's your call.

Have a search on rennlist and you'll see a lot people, especially the people that track heavily, have loads of this.

I had ha my Carrera T for only a few days when I chose a 'diversionary' route that, unbeknownst to me, had just been re-surfaced. Trapped loose chippings score both front wheels.

The marks will disappear in a refurb but it's bloody annoying. furious

it can be filled when doing a wheel refurb its not too deep or it may get buried anyway if you go for a powder coat finish

Isn't there anything you can fit, like a bigger brake disc guard or something to prevent this scenario?

Thanks folks, I've taken a look on rennlist and it does seem to happen to a few peoplemad

I suppose we'll leave it until before we sell then try and get it filled in and re painted or replace the wheel.

And laugh, yes it's used as a daily for the school run and work commutes. So I never get to go in it as on the weekend when we're out as a family we go in the macan.banghead

I have wondered about this before. Would a thin piece of soft foam stuck on the calliper close off the gap and block stones entering?

Both of my last two PCCB equipped cars had these scores on most of the wheels. My OPC were totally relaxed about it and raised no issues at all when I traded them in against a new Porsche. They appeared to accept is as a part of life. I have given up worrying about it now, like the previous poster said once the dust builds up they don’t really show.
