I have placed an order for a new 911 C2S in Dec-2021 and I was told I should have it before the end of 2022. Well….

That was before rasPutin went mad and invaded Ukraine. Then we learned that the wiring harness is made in UA and due to supply-chain issues the timelines will be longer. Does anyone on this forum have a better insight?

On a positive side, Porsche posted fantastic financial results, boasting record sales and strong demand. Where did these cars go, looks like not to UK, as my OPC has not seen a new 911 for over six months. Second positive is that Porsche stopped shipping new cars to ruSSia. Will it make much of a difference?

I suspect I will get it in 2023, probably 992.2 model, which doesn’t worry me that much, if only I had more info with some degree of certainty, so I can plan for it.

Are any of you waiting for 911, what are your timelines?

I ordered a C4 GTS in December too. Was told 12 months initially, but now they have no idea. Finger in the air time. If I see it in 2023 I’ll be happy.

I’m hoping the rumour of a NA 4.0 992.2 with a manual box is real (I know it’s very unlikely), as I’ll switch to that if it does emerge.

For whatever reason Porsche last year chose to throttle back on cars being delivered to the UK. Global sales were actually an all time record and in excess of pre-pandemic levels…like Apple with it’s iPhone’s it appears VW group is making sure it’s most profitable brand is getting the chips/parts it needs.

In the first three months of this year Porsche delivered 4280 cars in the UK…up 46% on the 2931 cars it delivered in the same period last year.

Now a lot of those will be Taycan’s but clearly they’re making cars When i was at my OPC ten days ago they’d just had a delivery and had four new GT4’s sat waiting to go to PDI.

I suspect what is happening with Carrera S is that any 911’s that are getting made are GTS/Turbo/GT3. They’re the most profitable cars and the newest models….same happened with 991.2. When they started making GT3 and GTS my OPC got one Carrera S in a year.

Similar boat to the original poster. Ordered a 992 c2 in Dec 2021 and was told it will be mid year 2023. I have a good relationship with OPC and have been told they will ensure I get my car as soon as they can but I will happily wait for a 992.2. Bigger things in the world to worry about at the moment.

Is it ever worth it? There are 45 992 S's for sale, the spec all blends into the 'usual-usual' - how far removed are those for sale from what your spec is? Not withstanding the supposed enjoyment of speccing from new, but surely the year long (and longer) order time (and uncertainty) why not just buy a used one?

Overs is probably the answer.

US sales in Q1 for Porsche were down 25%, so I would not say that 2022 will be a record for sales globally given the size of the US market alone.

I don't think so for the majority. The list price is £99K. Lets say 10-20% on top for options, circa £110-£120. There are only 2 of the 45 over £120K.
I don't think there is that much in it and as I say most people spec quite similar. I'd be amazed if there isn't something there that matches the spec someone is waiting a year+ for.

I have a C2 (base) on order. Ordered recently and car is due at the end of next year but could arrive early 2024.

I’ve just settled a 3 year old C2S to use for now and potentially beyond. As per the above, waiting for more than one year is a long wait….and if it came earlier, would want to wait to make sure it’s the 992.2 anyway.

I was at my OPC on Thursday for a service and a conversation with the sales guy about my Wife's Macan S.

He showed me a report that they now get monthly from Porsche GB with predicted dates for all models. It was March's report and doesn't take into account Ukraine's wiring harness issues.

I didn't notice what the C2S date was but the C4S (which is what I have) date was Q4 2023. He was expecting that to slip into 2024 when April's report was availale.

Quickest dates I saw was for the Cayenne Platinum Edition - Q3 this year.

992.2 with 4.0 and MT would be a worth-waiting trade-off.

Good overview, thanks for sharing.
I guess 992.2 it is then, hopefully 4.0 M/T

Probably highly sought after but you need to kick up a fuss about waiting aeons for a build slot and ask them to prioritise you for a Sports Classic all things considered.

It depends on the motivation and a purpose. It’s not my first, nor my last Porsche. However, I intend to keep it for ~5 years and I don’t want a pre-owned by 3 other blokes vehicle.

Given the med-geo-political situation I am happy to wait, I will need it when life returns to normal and I can travel across Europe again… south of France, Italy, Spain… good old days 8-)

250 were produced of the last Sports Classic. To all those waiting years i would throw a wobbler and say i ain't waiting two years to end up with a fuddy duddy run of the mill 992, demand to be put on a priority list.

Oi, that sounds like unobtanium, if I can’t get C2S, what is the odds they would trust me with Sports Classic?

well tell them to release your deposit back to them then. You can't be waiting 2 years for a car surely?. By the time the time comes the model range will have moved on.
