On the lookout for a 997.2 What to lookout for? Post Yours!

Hi all,

On the lookout for a 997.2 C/C2/C4 in the next coming months (if anyones thinking of selling) and after some advice on what to look for on them when buying?

Condensers I know of. Did see one the other day and had a leaking sump and oil pan so left that one on CC.

Any advice or photos of yours please share!

Things I found out when on the hunt for mine last year.

Surface rust on drive shafts (common issue and just needs a lick of paint)
Clutch wear, mine was slipping when changing gear at higher RPM (I agreed to purchase the car if the dealer changed it)
Leaking coolant pipes at the front of the car
Saggy engine mounts (the exhausts won't be alligned)

Also out of the 3 cars I had inspected 1 had bore score and 1 had a terrbile idle and suspected bore score. I paid for a professional to inspect the cars for me a it was over lockdown, he aslo haggled on price for me as well and got me a new clutch, 2 condensors and a few £'000 knocked off the asking price.

Just over a year later and I am very very happy with the purchase!

I thought Bore Score on the 997.2 was super rare with the newer DFI engine?

I think the chances are a lot lower on the DFI engines but can still happen, I put it down to being unlucky (or lucky) with my searching

Flat 6 innovations in the US has had a bit of a rant in the past on rennlist about it becoming more apparent as an issue that affects the 997.2.
