Model spec progression - base, S, GTS?
Discussion
Anyone have a beginner overview of the different types within anyone generation and what the perks/benefits are
Base - entry level but still great
S - more bhp, additional specs e.t.c
GTS - more bhp, better value retention?, more desirable as less common?
??
I have also seen the T- model, but as I see thats just basically a base/entry for some of the newer 911 generations or?

Base, T, S, GTS is the hierarchy:
Base
T - adds chassis upgrades from the S and some T-specific styling upgrades but no more power
S - adds more power plus extra options for styling/chassis
GTS - adds even more power, GTS branding, some unique elements e.g. Race-Tex, centrelocks etc.
how does the turbo fit within that or is that something else?Base

Time was when you had the choice of:
T - base model, modest power
E - bit more power and equipment
S - even more power
Each in Coupe or Targa with a handful of optional extras
RS - limited production for 9 months to homologate for Group 4/5 racing
Now, the various models, destinations, body shells, options, limited editions…..make the number of permutations mind-blowing.
Probably all at the behest of ‘marketing’.
Personally, I still prefer simplicity - less is more.
